Pentagon outlines ‘equity’ priorities

The Pentagon has published an ‘Equity Action Plan’ detailing its progress in implementing President Joe Biden’s very first executive order and outlining what the US military intends to do next to embed the idea of ‘equity’ in everything it does – ranging from embracing transgender soldiers to making sure artificial intelligence isn’t racist.

The military is committed to having “a holistic strategy for continuing to cultivate enduring and equitable change,” said the document, dated April 13 but made publicly available on Friday. The plan was mandated by executive order 13985, the first thing Biden signed after taking the oath of office in January 2021.

US congressman reveals seats on committees are ‘literally’ bought

n a video that circulated online on Friday, Alabama Representative Mo Brooks told supporters that an entrenched system of corruption prevents Congress from passing legislation that would benefit the average American. Brooks said that both parties charge their members $1 million and beyond for chairmanships of committees, and that only those taking donations from lobbyists can afford these seats.

“Special interest groups run Washington, and I don’t mean that metaphorically. I mean literally,” Brooks told supporters at an event in March, video footage of which was shared on Friday by conservative pundit Lauren Windsor.

US police have warned of a radioactive contamination threat after a portable nuclear gauge went missing from a stolen car in the state of Pennsylvania.

They allegedly paid $150,439 in federal income taxes, $30,765 in state taxes to Delaware, and $2,721 in income taxes for Virginia, where Jill Biden teaches at Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA).

British SAS troops have trained Ukrainian forces for the first time since the Russian offensive began, Ukrainian commanders told The Times on Friday.
