India Ships in More Russian S-400s Despite Ukraine Conflict

India has received an order of Russian S-400 air defense systems, according to local media, with officials stating the shipments would continue despite Western efforts to force countries around the world to scuttle relations with Moscow over its ongoing military campaign in Ukraine.

“We are continuing to receive our consignments without any delays or issues, and the latest consignment of overhauled engines was received a few days ago despite the war [in Ukraine],” one unnamed official said.

The missile platforms arrived in the country by air and sea and have since been deployed in “designated locations,” senior govt officials told India Today, noting the S-400s are “now operational.”

China Cuts Down Western Accusations of Hoarding Grain

US estimates suggest that China will have stockpiled over half the entire global supply of wheat (142 million tons) by the end of the 2021/22 market year, sparking accusations of hoarding and driving global prices up.

Beijing has denied the claims, despite posting new record high grain imports last year (the country’s domestic consumption of wheat stands at 147MN tons, while China posted all-time high agricultural deficits).

The state-backed Economic Daily suggested in January that China has enough rice and wheat to feed its 1.4BN population for 18 months, adding, “Western hype… is intended to blame China for global grain price hikes. But China has no reason to be blamed for the faults of others, and it must not.”

Sri Lanka’s government has been under fire over shortages in food, fuel, and other essential goods

Sri Lanka’s state-run Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) on Friday started rationing the amount of fuel available at pumps. Motorists in cars, vans, and SUVs will be limited to 19.5 liters of fuel per purchase, while motorcyclists will be restricted to four, AFP reported. Motorists will also be banned from filling fuel cans.

The CPC controls around two thirds...
