Amazon Adds 5% “Fuel & Inflation surcharge” to Sellers

Amazon has tacked on an extra 5% in seller fees to cover rising costs of fuel (+48% in the last 12 months) and inflation (+8.5% in March, fastest rate in 40 years) that is “subject to change”.

About 2MN sellers populate Amazon’s third-party marketplace, pumping a massive $103BN a year in the company coffers - or 22% of overall revenue.

A company statement explained costs have gone up due to raised wages, hiring more staff and construction of new warehouses.

Discover a Russian nature reserve in Yakutia 'maternity home for polar bears'

Russian expedition teams found 18 lairs of endangered species of polar bears across the federal bear reserves in Yakutia.

The record-breaking discovery is the largest number of dens on the coast of the East Siberian Sea in its history.

"I am convinced that our reserve is exactly the maternity home for polar bears" the leader of the expedition Arkady Semyonov said.

He discovered that bears can stay in their dens "practically lying on top of each other", with the animals carrying their cubs inside, which he described as 'unique'.
