Just 38% of Americans approve of US President Joe Bidenโ€™s leadership, as more than half expect a recession in the next year

The poll found Biden sitting at 38% approval, and 53% disapproval. Just four months earlier, CNBC clocked Biden at 46% approval to 48% disapproval. On h...

Washington has pledged to take โ€œevery stepโ€ to prevent Beijingโ€™s attack on the island

The United States will take โ€œevery stepโ€ to ensure that China will never invade Taiwan, White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said on Thursday.

Speaking at the Economic Club conference in Washington, Sullivan suggested that Beijing is โ€œcarefully lookingโ€ now at the events in Ukraine following the launch of Russiaโ€™s military offensive in February, โ€œto learn lessons writ large, including with respect to Taiwan.โ€

France explains refusal to speak of โ€˜genocideโ€™ in Ukraine
RT World News (RSS)

The countryโ€™s president has called for semantic caution in describing purported atrocities

French President Emmanuel Macron has doubled down on his refusal to characterize Russiaโ€™s conduct in Ukraine as โ€œgenocide.โ€ He articulated his unwillingness to invoke the fraught term during a Thursday interview on the France Bleu radio network.

โ€œWords have a meaning and we must be very careful,โ€ he said, pointing out that โ€œthe word โ€˜genocideโ€™ must be qualified by jurists, not by politicians.โ€

His reasoning echoed remarks by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres the day before, when h...

Why the outcome of Russia-Ukraine talks will change Europeโ€™s security landscape
RT World News (RSS)

Ukraine may abandon its NATO ambitions and to enshrine a neutral status in the Constitution. What will it get in return?

Six weeks into Moscow's military offensive, Russia and Ukraine do not have a mutually satisfactory agreement. A treaty between the two countries, when signed, could have far-reaching effects that go beyond bilateral relations, transforming the entire landscape of European security. On February 28, Moscow and Kiev kicked off the talks, focusing on four key areas: political aspects, demilitarization, the issue of Crimea and the Donbass, and the subjec...

Chinese Oil & Gas Giant to Leave UK, US & Canada over Sanctions Fears (Reuters)

Beijingโ€™s top oil & gas producer CNOOC is reportedly preparing to halt operations over fears China could be hit by Western sanctions, having been blacklisted under the Trump administration.

The projects involved produce around 220,000 barrels of oil per day via the $15BN acquisition of Canadian firm Nexen less than a decade ago, with the company apparently looking to Guyana, Uganda and Latin America for alternative prospects.

Washington said last week China could face measures if it assisted Russia in evading sanctions already levied against Moscow.
