Russia's Moskva Warship “Seriously Damaged” by Explosion, but Fire Contained - MoD

The Moskva missile cruise ship had to be evacuated after an ammunition explosion caused a serious fire, the MoD confirmed Wednesday night, which has now been contained.

The cruiser has been stationed off the Ukrainian coast since February, as Kiev officials claimed that two of their hidden anti-ship missiles in Odessa were in fact the cause of the fire.

The alleged strike comes a day after Ukraine released commemorative stamps of the debunked “Snake Island” incident it says involved 13 Ukrainian soldiers cursing the Moskva ship, and follows Kiev media reporting the destruction of another ship that appeared a week later in Sevastopol unharmed.

Pentagon Spox John Kirby says the US believes the Moskva is making its own way east.
