So just want to highlight to everyone what happened just now at my moms (in her 70s) house and if everyone can SPREAD THE WORD

Yesterday my mom called me to say that she had a phone call from an Irish number that had an __**automated message tell her her she was being investigated for criminal activities on her number and in order to find out more press 1__**She hung up and then today before I arrived she had 2 more missed calls from this number.

Just now the number called again so I made her answer an Indian lady start talking saying that her ppe number had been stolen and people where using her number for fraud so I grabbed the phone and pretended to be her and ask to speak to a manager as I wouldnt give my moms name as I said if u have the number and ppe then u should know the name.

So the โ€œmanager guyโ€ comes on , Indian again and I recorded some of that call. They try to get u to google the number while on the line so that it takes u to missed call.com which lists the number as being attorney general in Dublin.

Anyway I hung up and then checked the attorney generals website and the scam is listed there. So if everyone here can spread the word to warn the elders in ireland as clearly itโ€™s going around and as my mom said โ€œ I would of believed it as I read in the papers about all that information being stolen from HSE and I know we have lots of foreigners working in these offices so I would of thought the caller was genuineโ€

After getting her PPE number the next stage would be to get her bank details of card to โ€œcheck them against the system against the fraudโ€. Both the lady and the man were very aggressive and insistent on the call so vulnerable old people would def be under risk to believe this scam.
