The US will send decades-old A-10 attack planes to the Middle East, replacing more advanced aircraft currently stationed in the region, which it instead intends to deploy in Europe and the Pacific, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday.
The redeployment, which is expected in April, will mean that the US will reserve more sophisticated aircraft to counter perceived threats from Russia and China. The older A-10 planes are considered by the Pentagon as sufficient to protect US interests in the Middle East....

Losing Streak: Dollar Slips Again as Bank Confidence Wobbles
The dollar is set for its longest losing streak in two and a half years, hitting near seven-week lows on Thursday as the Federal Reserve suggested it is close to pausing interest rate hikes.
Despite raising its benchmark funds rate by 25 basis points, the Fed hinted at โongoing increasesโ being required as well as โsome additional risesโ as it cautiously navigates faltering confidence in banks.
Futures imply a 50% change of one more hike by a quarter-point, as the dollar index tracks down by 0.2% - its sixth straight daily drop and the longest streak since September 2021.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is invited to the BRICS summit in South Africa, despite his arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court, according to South African Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor.
According to her, the Russian leader is expected at the summit, which will be held in August, although the ICC warrant is "some cause for concern."
"In the past, I have repeatedly pointed out double standards in world problems. There are many other countries involved in conflicts, but none of them were interested in the ICC," she said.
