Washingtonโ€™s Aging Planes to be Sent to Middle East to Plug Shortfall

Aging A-10 attack planes will be deployed to the Middle East in April as Washington seeks to swap them out with more advanced fighters to place in the Pacific and Europe in order to fend off challenges from China and Russia, officials said.

Washingtonโ€™s decision to string out its presence in the Middle-East is reportedly linked to the US pursuing a โ€˜Great Powerโ€™ race against Russia and China.

The US plans to retain two Patriot anti-missile battalions, around 2,500 troops in Iraq and 900 troops in Syria. According to the WSJ, some retired US officers are concerned that such force levels are insufficient to deal with the full array of threats in the Middle East.

The Banking Crisis, Housing Insecurity and Preparing for the Coming Economic Collapse With James Fauntleroy
MintPress News (RSS)

The collapse of Silicon Valley Bank and the 50 billion dollar injection to Credit Suisse highlights the precarious state of the banking system. While the banks claim that they are too big to fail, the reality is that the people who suffer the most when banks collapse are ordinary Americans. The rich can protect themselves by moving their money into offshore accounts or investing in other assets. But the poor and working-class Americans who have their savings in these banks will lose everything if banks collapse.

On this episode of Behind the Headlines, Lee Camp interviews James Fauntleroy, a regular contributor to the...

Taiwan โ€˜Critical US Interestโ€™: DeSantis Says Warns Against Chinese โ€˜Aggressionโ€™

The province is a โ€œstrong allyโ€ of Washington and key in โ€œchecking the growth and rise of China,โ€ Florida Governor Ron DeSantis told Piers Morgan in a sit-down interview on Fox Nation.

Beijing represents โ€œthe biggest threatโ€ to Washingtonโ€™s โ€œability to lead,โ€ he added, as he mulls a run for the White House against rival Donald Trump in 2024.

The comments come as the US seeks to bolster its presence in the region, undertaking joint drills with South Korea and Japan and making overtures to other countries in an attempt to counter Beijingโ€™s influence.

Pentagon begins redeployment to deter Russia and China โ€“ WSJ
RT World News (RSS)

The US Defense Department will move newer attack aircraft to Europe and the Pacific, the newspaper reports

The US will send decades-old A-10 attack planes to the Middle East, replacing more advanced aircraft currently stationed in the region, which it instead intends to deploy in Europe and the Pacific, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday.

The redeployment, which is expected in April, will mean that the US will reserve more sophisticated aircraft to counter perceived threats from Russia and China. The older A-10 planes are considered by the Pentagon as sufficient to protect US interests in the Middle East....

Proposed property and education bans for Russians, Chinese, Iranians, North Koreans and illegal migrants could come back to bite America

A new bill introduced in Texas by State Representative Tony Tinderholt would, if enacted, bar undocumented students, as well as any students from China, Iran, Russia and North Korea, from studying in Texas universities. While it reportedly has little chance of making it through to the Governorโ€™s desk, it still reflects a racist and counter-productive attitude by some US officials.

DeSantis clarifies stance on Ukraine
RT World News (RSS)

The Florida governor had previously called the conflict a territorial dispute between Moscow and Kiev

Florida governor Ron DeSantis has claimed his comment about the Ukraine conflict simply being a โ€œterritorial disputeโ€ was โ€œmischaracterized.โ€ In an interview with TV host Piers Morgan, the full version of which will air on Friday, the potential Republican presidential candidate insisted that Russia was โ€œwrongโ€ to โ€œtake over Crimeaโ€ and attack Ukraine.

Earlier this month, DeSantis told Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson that โ€œbecoming further entangled in a territorial dispute between Ukraine and Russiaโ€ is not...

US โ€˜uneasyโ€™ about Chinaโ€™s peace plan for Ukraine โ€“ media
RT World News (RSS)

Beijing could convince the world that Washington does not want an end to the conflict, Bloomberg has reported, citing a White House official

There is a โ€œsense of uneaseโ€ in the White House about the consequences of its dismissal of the Chinese peace plan for Ukraine, Bloomberg reported on Thursday, citing an unnamed official in the administration of President Joe Biden.

In February, the US publicly brushed off the roadmap for peace presented by China for the conflict between Russia and its neighbor.

However, Bloomberg reported that Washington now fears it could be โ€œbacked into a cornerโ€ by Beijingโ€™s proposal...
