Fyodor Lukyanov: Here's the real reason why Russia and China want to replace the US-led international order
RT World News (RSS)
The two powers share the same goal, but circumstance dictates they have to take different roads to make it happen
Russia and China donโt fit into the international system built under Western auspices after the Cold War. They are therefore in favor of replacing it. And it is easier to change it together.
โWe hope the world will become a better place, and we have reason to believe it will. At the same time, we are well aware that the future is bright, but the road there is winding.โ

French Activists File Notre Dame English-Only Translation Complaint
A group of French language activists has filed a legal complaint about translations at the Notre Dame only containing translations in English, contravening a 1994 law demanding at least two other languages on public signs.
Defense of the French Language has successfully campaigned to add languages to signs at the Eiffel Tower, claiming the law โprotects French because it promotes linguistic pluralism.โ
The activists have also filed legal complaints against 20 bodies for their use of English, including Charles de Gaulle airport, the national postal service, and the world-famous Sorbonne โbusiness school.โ

UK interest rates raised to 4.25% by Bank of England
The Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee voted to raise the Bank Rate to 4.25% from 4%, the highest level since October 2008, the start of the financial crisis.
Global central banks continue the cycle of tightening monetary policy to fight inflation.
This is the 11th straight increase in UK interest rates, even though the Bank of England believes that inflation will fall sharply in the next few months.
CPI inflation is still expected to "fall significantly" in Q2 2023, to a lower rate than anticipated in the February Report, it says, partly due to the freeze on household energy bills.
