Today I updated the revenge_repo. I updated a couple of the packages, but the biggest announcement here is the removal of the i686 version of the repo. We haven't served an i686 iso in a couple of months and I haven't ran an i686 system for packaging in just as long. Thank you to all the i686 users who used Revenge, but for now, I bid you farewell.

It's been a long time coming, but it's finally ready. OBRevenge, Mate Revenge, and KRevenge are all now just Revenge OS! In addition to these three desktop choices, you can now choose to install Gnome3, XFCE, or the i3 Window Manager as your desktop.
This release features the new, online installer "Nemesis". The Nemesis Installer will guide you through the installation and provide a choice between 6 desktop options.
Revenge OS still has the tools that you've come to expect, such as the Welcome Screen, Nvidia driver tool, virtualbox driver tool, kernel tool, and Grub configuration tool.
Revenge OS features new artwork by Karl Schneider, and a new custom logo created by Karl and Thomas Schneider!
The entire build process was revamped for this release, so the improvements are too numerous to mention here. Try it out and see for yourself, download link below:

Wallpaper Contest!
Hey everyone,
I am starting a contest for the wallpapers that will be included in the next iso release of Revenge OS. I absolutely LOVE the branded wallpapers that Karl has so graciously contributed to Revenge OS, and they will still be the default wallpapers for the system. However, nobody creates cooler wallpapers than the Linux community, and so I wanted to open this up to everyone.
I created a category on the Google + Community where you can post wallpapers for the contest. Myself and the rest of the team will select 10 wallpapers from the submissions to be included in the next iso release. I will make sure that you get credit for your contribution!
A few simple rules:
1. Submissions have to be your original creation.
2. Please design at a minimum resolution of 2560 x 1600 to allow for the most compatibility.
3. Feel free to use the Revenge Logo in the design, but it is not required.
4. Please, no nudity or obscenity.
5. Deadline August 7, 2017.
Just post your submissions on the G+ community under the "Wallpaper Contest" category before August 7, two weeks from now! And, share with your friends. This is your chance to have your creations included in the distro by default!

Because Awesome Shouldn't Be So Difficult
Hey everyone, so we have decided to open up Revenge OS to donations via patreon and paypal. We just have some goals that probably require a little bit more cash than we have on hand. The patreon is at patreon.com/revengeos and the PayPal is at https://www.paypal.me/revengeos
Thank you for any donations, we appreciate you all so much!

Hey guys. Revenge OS was recently added to the unixstickers database. If you go to http://ow.ly/hrBM30dZEtS and give us a vote, maybe Revenge OS stickers will come into existence
The Revenge Installer, the project's vanilla arch installer, has now been renamed to the Zen Installer. This includes a new wallpaper, a new iso, and a new maintainer.
So why "Zen?"
I actually came up with the name "Zen" as a joke, referencing the fact that we used Zenity to create all the dialogs that take you through your perfect arch installation. However, I believe the name Zen is also fitting because you can sit back and relax as your system installs. No worrying about the wrong disk being formatted or too many packages being installed. You just sit back and be "Zen" about it
That being said, the Zen Installer iso is still hosted at http://ow.ly/231j30e4wmt
Soon, I will upload some of the wallpapers that Karl made for the project so you can show off your love for being Zen to the same page
All zen installer source code is located at https://github.com/spookykidmm?tab=repositories and will be fully maintained by me. You can open issues on the corresponding pages to report issues or just put things you wish would be there
All the changes in this release:
You can now see all the partitions available on your disk
You can now choose window managers in addition to the ones in the desktop dialog
Most of the question dialogs are now the same height
the grub dialog was a little bit messed up, but I fixed it
the lolang and fflang operations now fetch the corresponding packages from pacman instead of a text file I produced
The open pacman.conf option in the iso should now work perfectly
Thank you for using Zen!

I realized I uploaded the Zen Installer wallpapers, but I didn't announce it or credit Karl Schneider for making them. So, he's awesome!
Arch Linux: Recent news updates
Perl library path change
The perl package now uses a versioned path for compiled modules. This means
that modules built for a non-matching perl version will not be loaded any more
and must be rebuilt.
A pacman hook warns about affected modules during the upgrade by showing output
like this:
You must rebuild all affected packages against the new perl package before you
can use them again. The change also affects modules installed directly via
CPAN. Rebuilding will also be necessary again with future major perl updates
like 5.28 and 5.30.
Please note that rebuilding was already required for major updates prior to
this change, however now perl will no longer try to load the modules and then fail in strange ways.
If the build system of some software does not detect the change automatically,
you can use
correct path. There is also
pacman.

Arch Linux: Recent news updates
The end of i686 support
Following 9 months of deprecation period, support for the i686
architecture effectively ends today. By the end of November, i686
packages will be removed from our mirrors and later from the packages
archive.
For users unable to upgrade their hardware to x86_64, an alternative is
a community maintained fork named Arch Linux 32. See their website
for details on migrating existing installations.
