It happened in a broader context as an outrage erupted : a prominent french author, Matznef, was found to be a pedophile who raped many kids. All the journalists, authors and french politicians knew it and said nothing.

It's not a surprise that Epstein recruited most of his young victims in France.
Epstein asked Jean-Luc Benchamoul (Brunel), director of MC2 Modeling agency, to find young girls of ~12 years old for him.
Benchamoul, who is now searched worldwide by french police, was a good friend of Epstein and of the Tout-Paris, the french elites.
