Discord “You Need to Verify Your Account” Verification Loop — How I Fixed It

If Discord keeps telling you that you need to verify your account before you can perform certain actions, while the verification process itself isn’t working, you may be stuck in a verification loop.

In my case, Discord showed:

“You need to verify your account in order to perform this action.”

When I tried to send a verification code, nothing would reach my email.

After trying different methods, I found a workaround that worked for me. This guide was provided by @slaying.

What Worked for Me

1. Create an alternate Discord account

Create a secondary Discord account. If necessary, use another device to create or access the account.

2. Add your main account

From the alternate account, send a friend request to your main Discord account.

3. Log into Discord through a browser

Open Chrome or another browser and log into your main account.

The important part is finding a browser where Discord actually loads the normal interface.

If you immediately get a blank page saying:

“You need to verify your account before you can proceed.”

Try another browser.

You want to reach the normal Discord interface, even if your account is still restricted.

4. Accept the friend request

Once you can access Discord through the browser, wait for the friend request from your alternate account.

Accept the request.

Even if other actions are still restricted, the important part is being able to access and accept the request.

5. Trigger the verification process

After accepting the friend request, Discord may trigger the account verification prompt.

This can provide another way to reach the verification process instead of repeatedly going through:

Settings → Email → Verify

which may leave you stuck with the same verification error.

6. Complete the verification

Follow whatever verification steps Discord provides.

Depending on your account, this may involve:

• Email verification
• Phone/SMS verification
• 2FA
• Other authentication methods

Only enter verification information directly through Discord’s official interface.

Important

The browser itself isn’t the fix.

The important part is finding a browser that allows your account to load the Discord interface far enough for you to receive and accept the friend request.

If one browser only shows the verification page, try another browser or device.

Need Someone to Send You a Friend Request?

If you’re stuck and need another account to send you a request, ask someone you trust to add you.

Only share your Discord username if you’re comfortable doing so. Never share your password, email password, 2FA codes, or verification codes.
