The margin of the pleura extend 2.5 cm above the clavicle and it crosses 8th rib
at the mid clavicular line, 10th rib at mid axillary line and passes just below the
12th rib and ascend on either side of the vertebral column to meet the apex of
the pleura. The anterior margin of the pleura deviates from the mid line on left
side at the level of the 4th intercostal space due to the presence of the
pericardium
