Why do the students not recall some well-rehearsed answers during the examination time? How come those answers come back into their memory after the exam is over?

The answer lies in the property of synaptic fatigue. Repeated continuous learning by rote, before the exam, may result in the complete discharge of the transmitters stored at the specific synapses. During the course of the exam, there is no NT in those synapses; and hence, there is no transmission. Once the NT is repackaged, the transmission starts again, by which time the exam is over!
