I know I’ve been meaning to do live streams to answer your questions but in the current reality it is had for me to think straight and do any public speaking. I have collected and analyzed your questions. I will try to share my answers to them in text soon but I will have to hold back any live streams. Those atrocities that happened in Bucha and continue happening in other Ukrainian cities are intolerable. Whole regions turn into mass graves. Last time I saw mass graves was Piskaryovskoye Memorial Cemetry for the victims for the Second World War and the Siege of Leningrad. The sorrow from the understanding that this is the reality now for many people in Ukriane is unbearable. When I first walked into the cemetry, my eye couldn’t find the graves I read about in a guidebook. All I saw was a cute well-maintained lawn. The moment I realized all the lawns around me were the mass graves my heart sank.

It is usually quite hard to find companies that are hiring outside of the US or Canada fully remotely. But today I found a company that has made my job a bit easier. They were smart enough to add a filter indicating specisfically remote for non US-based roles. And I’m really appreciative of this! So today is for Kunai.

They are a digital agency of 120+ people specializing in fintech based in Oakland, California. Over the past decade, they’ve shipped over 150 products for clients that include Visa, the United Nations, Wells Fargo, Ernst & Young, and TOMS Shoes. They are an entirely bootstrapped company whose founding team has been working together for over 20 years.

It’s been a hard week for many in the tech industry. News of massive layoffs affective immediate have fulled the news feeds. We kinda pivoted from the Great Resignation back in January to its Massive Layoffs sequel in a blink of an eye.

According to layoffs.fyi data 48,803 employees have been laid off by 325 startups in the past 6 months only. Uber alone has laid off 6,000 people, Getir and Booking.com 4,375 people. < that was in 2020 and thanks to one of my subscribers for pointing this out. 2022 year’s champions are Getir, Better(dot)com, Peloton 2-4K people laid off in each.

Despite the wake of layoffs, just a quick reminder that there are still many amazing jobs out there and you just need one. You will definitely find one that suits you! I have no doubt!
