Thank you for your reactions under the previous publication! As promised I’d like to share some of my ideas about re-locating my legal entity outside of Russia for the time being. Actually, I’m looking for al long term solution here as I don’t see myself paying any more taxes to support violence towards my friends, colleagues and their families and homes as well as my own country and my business.

So currently, I have two goals, one is to restore my payments from both my employeer and my consulting business. To do this, I’m considering getting digital nomad visas but they seem to still require some form of legal entity outside of the destination country which is not an option for me.

Another option I’m considering is UAE. A sole establishment there which seems to be curious because of no tax on income from outside UAE. There are free trade zones in other coutries as well which I’m reading up on. UAE seems to be a good option for me as they have a better reputation than other countries plus they are not in any of the economic black lists.

Another argument for UAE is that with their reputation I can be charging a higher rate for my services without having the thoughts of being associated with a third world country. It will be an additional argument to support my confidence during negotiations ragardless of where I’m going to be located atm.

A thought that resonated with me today is “GO WHERE YOU’RE TREATED BEST!” by Andrew Henderson the Nomad Capitalist.

Having everything in one location i.e. real estate, business, investement is never a winning strategy and with the global world it is sad not to be using the options that the world is offering. I view these challenges that I’m running into right now as a fun quest for feaguring out a recipe that will work for me.

He only mentions specific countries that have this policy though. But there other locations e.g. individual US states that have it as well. This policy may also apply under specific conditions e.g. if you are not a tax resident of a specific country you might be exepmt from their local income taxes.

They prefer applicants to reside within the CET timezone and availeble to occasionally meet in the Netherlands. A reasonable travel distance like a train journey or short flight is OK, expenses are covered. But they are still open to quality applicants that live a bit further away.

Hypercontext is another attepmt to disrupt remote work space. Previously it was Basecamp, now it is Hypercontext. Both are excellent tools. The problem that I see is people’s habits. You can change the tool but it is really hard to change people’s habits.

Hey, folks! I’ve been feeling really down because of the political situation, no energy for posting anything or come up with cools stories. But yesterday a friend of mine asked me for career advice because he’s left Russia and he has 1 month until he runs out of cash, credit card issued by Russian banks are blocked and he has no job in a foreign country.

I suggested he watch one of my Youtube videos about opportunites in tech industry for non-tech people. A few moments later he circled back with positive feedback for the information and the way I presented it. His feedback re-enegized me. I feel like I had forgotten some of the basic things that brought me joy. Empowering people to build location independent lives that’s what makes me wanna breathe, work, and live as well as being flexible myself.

I wanna start a series of online chats where we can talk about remote job opportunities, search for opportunities that suite for each of you. Answer your questions and help you pave the way to your first remote jobs or your better remote jobs, jobs you love doing and jobs that pay well. I think it is as important as never before. Especially when people like that friend of mine have a choice to either find a remote job or go back to Russia.

I like the phylosophy of learning by doing. I learn a lot by doing and trying things. At work, I usually try to go after challenging tasks that imply some sort of a learning curve. I try to be 100% transparent with the team and my managers about the things I know and have experience in but I also try to seize the moment whenever there is a chance to learn something new. I know I’ve been meaning to do live streams to answer your questions but in the current reality it is had for me to think straight and do any public speaking. I have collected and analyzed your questions. I will try to share my answers to them in text soon but I will have to hold back any live streams. Live streams should be fun and entertaining but I don’t have the energy to entertain anyone I think it is inappropriate to even try to act as nothing is happening. Those atrocities that happened in Bucha and continue happening in other Ukrainian cities are intolerable. Whole regions turn into mass graves. Last time I saw mass graves was Piskaryovskoye Memorial Cemetry for the victims for the Second World War and the Siege of Leningrad. The sorrow from the understanding that this is the reality now for many people in Ukriane is unbearable. When I first walked into the cemetry, my eye couldn’t find the graves I read about in a guidebook. All I saw was a cute well-maintained lawn. The moment I realized all the lawns around me were the mass graves my heart sank.
