Breathing Issues Through the Nostrils and the Importance of the Breath

There are many factors that contribute to difficulties in breathing through the nostrils.
They include:

Narrow septum (nasal cavity,
large tonsils, liver stones that enlargen the liver and don't allow the lungs to expand properly, damaged abdomen muscles, damaged gut, bacteria/parasites/mould, eating acidic and mucus morning food like dairy, incorrect tongue position (tongue needs to be rolled up to the roof of the mouth), jaw imbalance and blockages in the nasal passage.

The videos uploaded have 5 exercises to assist with correcting jaw imbalances which play a big part in breathing and also health & wellbeing. (Contribute to headaches, brain fog etc)

Putting a fist hard up against the chin, right underneath it when you yawn also helps that joint near the ears and jaw to not get overstretched from opening your mouth too wide when yawning.

I've noticed my sleep affects my jaw and breathing especially as my septum (nasal cavity) is narrower than usual..
When I sleep on my side it puts pressure on my jaw, which then constricts the septum and hence I can't breathe through the nostrils properly.
The key is to sleep on your back for the entire night.
This is hard for me to do consistently due to conditioning and physical restrictions.
I've been focusing on yoga poses and stretches to build core stability to assist with sleeping.
Like back bends, side twists etc, abdominal exercises.
Yogananda has a great video on how to sleep on your back with your arms resting on your body. I'm working towards this now.
Will remove any mouth breathing issues.
Plus we need to remove eating the mucus forming foods from our diet. (Eating an alkaline diet mainly of raw fruits and vegetables)

Practicing alternate nostril breathing is also required each day so we are breathing through the nostrils 50/50.

Breath is the means to self realisation and the link to perfection.
Perfection is the goal of life and the truth about life.
The one single foundation for a good life is breath control.
Through breath control, purity and perfection can be reached.
Breath is the necessity of life.
Breath is God.
Only with breath can work be done.
As your work changes so does your breath.
Its our soul (Christ/Krishna) located at the 6th chakra that breathes life into our physical body.
Without the soul our bodies are inert/dead.
It's the breath that links our soul and body together from the astral plane.
Our soul first inhales apana (oxygen from outside our bodies) through our two nostrils so it can be transformed into usable energy.
When apana (oxygen) is inhaled and offered to the soul, it is immediately burned like oil that touches the flame in a lamp.
As the pure soul flame burns the apana (oxygen), it gives off life force, "prana," to energise the body.
We experience prana as body heat through the 5 senses.
If our body nature (ham) constantly watches this normal breath and perceives the living power of God entering it in the form of oxygen, that body will experience God-realisation.
This is continuous oblation to God.
Prana is the outgoing breath of the soul, which provides the life force that animates the 24 gross elements of the body and mind.
The soul's exhalation includes the carbon dioxide that is offered to the external air.

"When you do not watch your breath constantly, your spirituality is lost."

Just by constantly watching your natural breathing, you can become a self-realised person, which is the goal of this life.
The soul inhales 21,600 times per day for a normal person, which is the number of births and rebirths in one day.
1 breath every 4 seconds.

But the Kriya gurus such as Babaji and Lahiri Mahasaya said that if you can perceive the soul is pulling one's inhalation 1,728 times a day (1 breath every 50 seconds), which is 1,728 informal Kriyas (breath awareness techniques), calmly watching the air touching the formless soul, within 10 years you will attain continuous liberation/self realisation.

Every gross breath enters the body and is transformed and merged into the vital breath, prana.
While the gross breath enters the lungs, the subtle breath circulates in the whole body and the finest or causal breath merges with the inner vital breath.
This is the tranquil vital breath.

In the human spine, Prana (vital breath) flows through these 3 nadis (Prana channels) Ida, Pingala and Sushumna.
Ida is tamasic (idle/slothful) – left nostril, pingala is rajasic (restless) – right nostril and sushumna is sattvic (spiritual) – equal nostrils.
This is why alternate nostril breathing is important to balance the proportion of the breath entering the nose to 50/50 and therefore sattvic. (spiritual)
Any differences and the breath becomes restless or slothful which in turn leads to activities becoming restless and slothful.
According to yogic science 50 moods can be experienced by every man/woman.
Each of these moods depends on a specific breathing pattern, therefore 50 breathing patterns exist.
The moods are a state of mind.
The navel/food/Manipura centre determines the breathing pattern and the state of mind.
In the food centre various airs are generated that lead us to bondage, including fear, anger, pride, hypocrisy, impurity, ego and lack of self control.
If we keep our mind in the lower 3 chakra centres we will experience delusion, illusion and error.
There are 50 types of breath but only one breath is spiritual that leads to genuine calmness.
The other 49 breaths are extrovert, restless and deluded.
In the gross physical body people engage in many activities as a result of the 49 extrovert/restless/deluded breaths.
"The breath activates the sense organs and the mind."
The advanced yogi's who reach the state of samadhi (self-realisation) take in very little breath and this breath doesn't flow back out the nostrils.
Instead it remains inside the nostrils and enters the soul.
This is the "rest of prana," the literal meaning of pranayama.
The more feeble/faint the breath, the more god/self-realisation.
These yogis keep their attention fixed on the atom point, in the soul, hearing many divine sounds like instruments playing along with seeing divine light.
The final stage of breath control/self realisation is "nirvikalpa samadhi" which is the breathless/pulseless state, which is the deathless state.
In this state of samadhi the yogis do not inhale or exhale when they meditate and do not require anything.
In their practical life, they are constantly alert in their inner self, completely detached from the outside world and liberated from everything.

"Restless breath leads to a restless mind and a restless life."

This is the secret of breath control.

"Breath control is self control, breath mastery is self mastery."

With breath control, God can be experienced through every portal of the senses.
Research shows that a reduced supply of oxygen to the brain causes depression and fatigue.
On the other hand, when we give our body a really good session of breathing, all the stress, the mental disturbance,
even diseases begin to heal as the body returns to its natural state, balance and health.

Breathing is important for another reason:
It controls the lymphatic system that is responsible for removing toxins from the body. It's also important for proper kidney functioning.
Every cell in the body produces toxins that need to be removed in order to keep us healthy.
If the toxins are not disposed efficiently, we end up with blockages that begin to poison us.
If we don't remove the toxins, the blockages will stop oxygen and nutrients getting through to other areas of the body.

Picture the lymphatic system as a giant river that surrounds every cell in the body. (There is 4 times more lymph in the body than blood)
The job of the lymphatic system is to eliminate toxins and supply oxygen and nutrients to each and every cell of the body.

*** The best way to stimulate the lymph system is through deep, diaphragmatic breathing and gentle movement.
*** Most people normally breathe from the chest.
15😁1
This uses only a fraction of our total lung capacity.
When we breathe from the lower Dantien(lower abdomen/big buddha breathes), we're not only taking in much more oxygen, we're also stimulating the efficiency of the lymph system by as much as "1,000%" more.
That's why breathing is so important.

*** The lungs balance the oxygen and carbon dioxide at the top and the kidneys balance and reabsorb the bicarbonate at the bottom.

Many illustrations could be given of the mathematical relationship between man's respiratory rate and the variations in his state of consciousness.
A person who's attempting some delicate or physical feat, automatically breathes very slowly.

*** Fixing your attention depends on slow breathing, whereas quick or uneven breaths are an inevitable accompanying of harmful emotional states.

The restless monkey breathes at the rate of 32 times a minute, in contrast to man's average of 15.

The elephant, tortoise, snake and other creatures noted for their longevity have a respiratory rate that is less than man's.
The giant tortoise which may attain the age of 300, breathes only 4 times a minute.

*** So it can be seen how important the control of breath is to health and longevity.
The utmost importance!
