💛 New music Monday

We've released a new EP on the Refuge Worldwide in-house label, "Revolution At Dawn", by Ghanaian poet, writer and curator Mr. Poetivist.

A spontaneous freestyled poem dedicated to the people of Sudan recorded in our studio at Niemetzstraße has been reworked by four artists - NikNak, Ivano Tetelepta, Myles Morgan, and gugol maps.

All proceeds from the EP sales will be sent to Sudanese American Physicians Association, a charity working to enhance healthcare access, deliver medical aid and foster community resilience during wartime in Sudan.

23/July: We are over at KW Institute for Contemporary Art as sonic researcher and DJ Lucia Kagramanyan presents a listening session dedicated to Armenian lullabies. The recording will be available on our website if you can't attend, but tickets are only 5€ here.

24/July-02/Aug: Gaswerk Music Days returns for its fourth edition, continuing its dynamic growth as a community-rooted festival dedicated to Radical Live Music. Tickets

25/July: Tune in live from The Cause in London as we take part in a new festival, also featuring Radio Alhara and Seoul Community Radio. Sets from Upsammy, Cousin and Stella Zekri.

🎹 As part of our Unity In The Community programme, the music production studio at Niemetzstrasse 1 is available to book daily (Mon-Sat) for no € charge. The studio comes fully equipped so you don't need to bring anything, but feel free to hook up whatever you like into the existing system. Suitable for podcasts, recording vocals, learning a new instrument, or working on your music.

Free sessions are twice a day, 2.5hrs. Please note we add more open sessions each month - if you can’t find a suitable slot, you can check back again next week.

Priority will be given to those with refugee backgrounds, BIPoC, people from the LGBTQIA community, disabled people, women and gender nonconforming people, or anyone else who feels that due to their background, they face difficulties accessing music education.

🔎 SPY Story: Training against disinformation through storytelling!

In collaboration with Arts of the Working Class (AWC) and Energie-Alternative in Palermo, we have been developing SPY STORY, a project that invites young adults (18 -35) to push back against disinformation through the art of storytelling.

🎹 This September, our Unity In The Community project hosts two workshops supported by Ableton, focusing on both their hardware and software.

Tutors will be Sarah Roellinger Shaikh (aka Monibi), certified Ableton Trainer, DJ, producer, sound engineer, and label head of Low End Therapy Records, and Dr. Banu Çiçek Tülu, sound artist, music producer, DJ, and lecturer at Berlins University of the Arts.

📡 We are at HKW this evening for the next edition of their Sound Base Berlin project, Praed - Dancing in Echtzeit.

This is a free event and doors are 19:30. There will be a concert, DJ set, and conversation in the Angie Stardust Foyer, curated by Pamela Owusu-Brenyah. This is sure to be a really interesting night, and you can drop by spontaneously. No need to sign-up and no € charge.
