It’s scary, we know so much about the Dunya, and so little about the Deen.
This is not to say, don’t earn and strive to be well off, it’s to say, don’t forget who your Lord is, and where you’re headed!
May Allah forgive us all! آمين
[Shaykh Saeed Al Kamali حفظه الله]

Imām al-Qurṭubī رحمه الله has said:
The event relating to Sayyidnā Yaʿqūb عليه السلام proves that it is wājib upon every Muslim when faced with distress or pain in the case of his person, children, family or property that he or she should seek redress from it by resorting to patience (ṣabr) at its best and by becoming resigned to and content with the decree of Allāh Taʿālā - and follow the example of Sayyidnā Yaʿqūb and other blessed prophets عليهم السلام.
Ḥaḍrat Ibn ʿAbbās رضي الله عنه has said: Allāh Taʿālā conferred upon Sayyidnā Yaʿqūb عليه السلام the reward of Shuhadā' (martyrs in the path of Allāh) for his ṣabr. And, in this Ummah too, whoever observes patience whilst in distress shall receive a similar reward.

Al-Fudayl bin 'Iyādh رحمه الله stated:
"A servant (of Allāh) will never be complete until he gives precedence to his Dīn over his desires. And he will never be destroyed until his gives precedence to his desires over his Dīn."
[Siyar A'lām An-Nubalā 8/427]

"When Allāh wants good for a servant He gives him success to be with the people of the Sunnah, righteousness and Dīn and He keeps him away from accompanying the people of desires and innovation who are in opposition (to the truth)."

Be gentle with yourself by forgiving yourself and by seeking regular forgiveness. Amending your relationship with your Lord is the most important thing you will ever do for yourself. Just live simply and let go of that which steals your happiness.
If you walk with something for too long it becomes your reality. You need to let the dead shell of yesterday break away so you can make room for all that is new. In the end the things that matter are become very few, focus on the few.
One of the reasons you shouldn't let something weigh you down for too long is simply because death is waiting for us all, and there's not much time. Don't use the little time you have to be distracted over spilt milk. Nothing is ever that serious in this short life.

Imam Abul Layth as-Samarqandi narrates a deep and hardhitting quoting regarding sincerity in his book: تنبيه الغافلين
May Allah forgive us and grant us guidance. آمين يا رب العالمين

See the dunya as it really is. Do not be taken by it’s deceptive attractiveness and it’s illusory beauty. Understand the reality and the nature of its existence.
The life of this world is bound to end, no matter how long it lasts. It is only a few breathes in a few places, limited to a certain time span.

“I complained to Wakī’ about the weakness of my memory, and he advised me to leave my sins. He said knowledge is a light, and the light of Allah is not bestowed to the (unrepentant) sinner.”
― Imam al-Shāfi’ī (RA)

Your heart will be in its most peaceful state when you place it in the care of Allāh ﷻ. Don't wait for a certain outcome to occur before you can be at peace. In any place, under any circumstance, in every day - you can be at peace, when you leave the heart with Him.
Leave your heart with Him, and you will never be disappointed. It is a fragile thing, the heart. It can only be fully at peace when it gets to know it's Lord and remains in His care

It's a special feeling when things seem to be falling apart or you're in an unknown phase in your life but your heart is stable because you remember the duas you made to your Lord. He always brings out of the hardship, a beautiful end.
Having good thoughts of your Lord is such an important concept because it is literally the ground that you stand upon. Without it, you have no stable foundation.
