Assalāmu ʿalaykum wa raḥmatullāhi wa barakātuh,

This is a reminder page for myself to look back on. If you benefit from it, Alḥamdulillāh. If not, please remember me in your du'ā's.

Purpose behind reciting the Qur'ān
I hope for one thing from my life: to live a life of Qur'ān. In all of its forms. To live with its recitation, pondering, memorizing, reviewing, and most importantly acting upon it.

اللهم اجعلنا من أهل القرآن

Your nafs and desires are the biggest enemies in your life. The one who learns how to control it, will be saved from corruption and the one who is overpowered by it will be consumed by this world in a way that will destroy them completely. If the nafs can be tamed, you are considered to be the most courageous of warriors in the sight of Allāh ﷻ. For the greatest Jihad in the sight of Allāh ﷻ is the struggle one has in controlling their desires.

Waki’ reported: Sufyan ath-Thawrī رحمه الله said, “I never dealt with anything more difficult on me than my own self. Sometimes it would be against me, and sometimes it would be for me.”

(H‌ilyat al-Awliya‌)

May Allāh ﷻ save us from the destruction of our own desires. Amīn Yā Rab.

التواضع
Humbleness

قال النَّبي ﷺ:
The Prophet ﷺ said:

مَا نَقَصَتْ صَدَقَةٌ مِنْ مَالٍ،
“Charity does not decrease wealth,

وَمَا زَادَ اللَّهُ عَبْدًا بِعَفْوٍ إِلَّا عِزًّا،
And Allāh increases the honor of the one who forgives,

وَمَا تَوَاضَعَ أَحَدٌ للَّهِ إِلَّا رَفَعَهُ اللَّهُ
And no one will humble himself for Allāh’s sake except that Allāh raises his status.”

Prepare For The Hereafter

Side note: listen to the Shaykh’s voice as he recites the different verses of Qur'ān, his eyes started to flood with tears.

That’s how we should be.

Imām al-Bukhārī (رحمه الله) was distinguished with three qualities:

1. He never spoke much.

2. He never yearned for what people had.

3. He would never occupy himself with other people’s affairs; all his attention was towards knowledge.

[Siyar A’lām an-Nubalā’ 12/449]
Focus on being the best version of yourself. If you are doing a little better than yesterday, it’s a small win to celebrate.
