This is consistent with what we see from the Natsoc movements today. They recruit almost exclusively from the lower classes of manual laborers and not educated people. They also recruit heavily from prisons as criminals make for good cannon fodder on the front lines.

Part of Hitler's reasoning to invade the USSR was his belief in the Marxist-inspired "shrinking markets" idea... that as countries industrialized, they would cease to function as export markets for German goods.... so Hitler decided he needed to conquer the territory and resources required to fuel his economy.

Fascism is a sister ideology of Communism, born of the same mother: Marxism.

The Nazis confused people with their fake anti-Communism. Now you have idiot Marxists claiming they weren't socialists because they quarreled with other breeds of socialists.

It's not surprising to see some Christians gravitate towards Communism. Christianity has inbuilt ideas about glorifying poverty and charity towards the meek and poor. That's what Communism does too. The deification of the underprivileged factory worker as the saint of society.

Father Coughlin for example was an anti-capitalist socialist who disliked the competition of markets because they produce winners and losers. He wanted the state to run the economy in the interests of the poor. He wanted some form of Christian Communism and state welfarism.

Coughlin's anti-Communism was purely an opposition to its atheism not its socialism, which is the case with many Christians. They want the economics of Marxism without its atheism.
