LPT: If you’re out and want a fast, inexpensive meal, but not fast food, go to the grocery store.
Most grocery stores have a hot and prepared food section. You can often get thinks like sandwiches, pizza, wings, salads, sushi, and more. Plus you have a whole store of snacks and drinks to choose from. Some even have sitting areas. They are often the same price or cheaper than fast food, and have some healthier options.

LPT Request: How to talk to upstairs neighbors about noise?
I recently bought a condo and my upstairs neighbors' kids are so loud - running, banging, crashing, jumping on the bed. It's an older building and I expect noise to travel, but this feels excessive to me. Is there any way to address this with them without creating an enemy with a new neighbor?

LPT: If you think someone may not remember you: start the conversation with “I’m ____ we met at ____”. Unless you’re Audrey Hepburn.
But assuming you aren’t Audrey Hepburn playing Sabrina Fairchild, people don’t find it cute when you ask them if they remember you. Your life isn’t a romantic comedy. If there’s even a chance someone may not remember you, just tell them who you are straight away and you’ll probably find they do remember you just maybe not your face or your name or exactly where from. Some people also find it off putting to be remembered so well by (and expected to also remember to the point of a cutesy guessing game) someone who made no impression on them.

LPT: If your car has daytime running lights they are probably bright enough to drive at night with, especially in cities but your tail lights are still off. Remember to turn on your headlights at night or check if your car has auto feature so it does that for you.
Driving around at night with your tail lights off isn't doing you or other drivers any favors. Most new cars are set it and forget it so why not do that. If I had a dollar for every car I see at night looking like a stealth bomber I'd be rich.

LPT: Discount flowers at the grocery store can be rearranged and cut to look better as a bouquet
Every so often I pick up a bouquet from the discounts at the floral section of the grocery store. I spend less than ten dollars(sometimes less than 5!) and it gives me some wonderful decor for a casual gathering or just to have something colorful in the house. When I get it home, I cut down the stems to various heights and style the flowers myself. It goes from looking like a basic bouquet to one I could have picked up for $30-50 at the florists. Some flowers can even be hung to dry when the rest of the bouquet is done so you have them longer.

EDIT FOR COMMENTERS SMH It’s a personal motto that has served me well. Get a bad vibe from someone? Think something fishy is going on? LPT: use a Netti Pot every time you brush your teeth. Twice a day. You'll be astonished by what's chillin behind your face.
I started using one because I couldn't get past this freaking cough, but didn't feel it warranted a doctor visit. I had a lingering feeling it was my nose draining into my lungs at night. After a week of using the Netti Pot first thing in the morning and right before I go to bed, my lungs are fine. My new problem is I fear what else is hanging out in my bodily crevices. I'm waiting for a childhood lego to fall out.

LPT: Use Duckduckgo to search potentially controversial topics. Google and Startpage curate their search results based on company policies.
Between using Duckduckgo and Google, I noticed searching the same phrases or terms will return drastically different results. Usually, the duckduckgo results are much more relevant. In the past Google has openly admitted to changing search results for various reasons. Some of these reasons are based on legal proceedings or backlash. Whatever the reason might be, using duckduckgo will sometimes circumvent these changes.https://www.cnbc.com/2019/11/15/google-tweaks-its-algorithm-to-change-search-results-wsj.html https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Censorship_by_Google

LPT: If a measurement seems odd, try converting it to metric/imperial
I recently bought a recessed power strip for a table and when looking at the cutout dimensions it listed 1.96in x 6.10in which would have been a pain to measure out. On a hunch I tried converting to metric and found that effectively was 5cm x 15.5cm which was substantially easier to measure out and cut.Even though the instructions may be converted to imperial, the product probably isn't.

LPT: You don't have to be at fault to apologize.
For an apology to happen, the offended person doesn't need to justify their reasons for feeling hurt, and you don't need to justify why what you did wasn't wrong. Apologizing is not admitting guilt or blame.Apologizing is simply saying you acknowledge your actions hurt the feelings of someone you care about and you feel bad that that happened. After an apology, the offended person hopefully feels heard and knows you care about their feelings. Then, ideally, you will both be curious about understanding each other's perspectives and figuring out how to avoid the situation in the future.Even if someone is right and the other is wrong in their perceptions or actions, people who care about each other are much more likely to be open to this possibility if a sincere apology reaffirms the caring and connection at the beginning of the conflict.I see too many people who care about each other get defensive instead of curious when someone says they've been offended or hurt, and then both parties have a verbal sparring match until the loser apologizes for doing something wrong or viewing something wrong. "I apologize" and "I was wrong" are two completely different statements.Apologizing simply acknowledges your actions in the chain of the other person's hurt--right or wrong, intentional or unintentional, reasonable or batshit crazy--and lets them know you care about their feelings.

LPT: If you have trouble opening doggy bags, after you pull it off the roll but before unfolding it, blow on the end the would open. At least part of it should be open now so the whole thing will open much more easily.
This has worked flawlessly for me. You need to hold the bag up close to your lips with it held fairly taut. The type of blow needs to be like if you were blowing out a candle. It might take a couple of tries to get the technique down but it will work every time after that. Gone are the days of struggling to pick up your dog's poop quickyl! Enjoy!

LPT Request: How to ensure that a person doesn't use my personal belongings while staying at my place?
It's a frigid winter, and a distant family member has asked me to stay at my apartment overnight (for 5-6 hours, while I'm out of town) so he can catch his flight.I hardly know this person, but we agreed since several members of my family had asked me to do him this favor. We agreed that he may stay for free if he doesn't use anything other than the guest room and the restroom.I moved most of my personal belongings to a cabinet, but because I never rented my property, I didn't buy any locks or even take my food from the fridge.I don't have any inside surveillance cameras. The worst thing is that my other room lacks a lock, and I don't have time to get one.I'm thinking what I can do to ensure he didn't open the cabinet or the fridge - I first considered taping them in unnoticeable spots, but this strategy wouldn't work since he would notice 'something is off' and would likely cover the evidence.I'm looking for ideas that are similar but more practical and just better.

LPT Request: How can I be less easily swayed and influenced, especially when trying to make big decisions?
I have spent years listing out my core values and trying to meditate to keep a calm mental state. I do believe I have mild ADHD, but I can function fine. When making tough decisions (e.g., break up or not, take this job or not, invest in this stock), I am heavily swayed and influenced by what I hear from others right in the moment. For example, when trying to decide on a job, when I talk to one friend A what they say heavily resonates with me and then I walk away feeling conviction. Then I talk to another person/friend B that says something else that is at odds with friend A but it heavily resonates too. Now I know the feelings inside that I am feeling are complex, but what is sad is that I struggle to ever have deep mental clarity that doesn't waiver easily.I have tried everything to be less convinced by things around me, but my brain tends to believe and agree easily. Also, stuff other people says literally makes sense until someone else says the opposite and then I am like why the hell did I ever agree with the first person. And then I go somewhere else and they say something that makes me question Person A and B.I am looking for actionable, tactical things I can do. Exercises or success stories ideally, not the typical everything is nuanced, meditate, be kind to yourself. Thanks!
