Hohenstein Castle, Middle Franconia, Germany. Probably constructed in the 11th Century, this small castle passed from private lordship to being owned by the Imperial City of Nuremberg, to in direct control of Bavaria's government. It even served as a textile school post WW2.

Burg Kriebstein, Saxony, Germany. Constructed by Dietrich von Beerwalde in 1384, the castle was expanded by his successors in the 15th and 16th Centuries with the addition of a large keep. It is now an events and weddings venue.
