I made a bingo card for the excuses and tactics my fiancé would use to avoid cleaning the kitchen (after he offered to, unprompted.)
This idea came to me after I was wondering about the cost of celebrities having live-in domestic workers help with upkeep of a house, and I realized that men get that service for free. After we finished eating two nights ago, fiancé declares I shouldn’t touch anything because he will clean it. Next morning, I remind him of his promise and he declares he will do it after work. I already knew where this leads next, so I made a bingo card with his favorite excuses and deflections.
The next day, after I worked 9 hours, did my daily workout, finished two loads of laundry, meal prepped two different dinners in the messy kitchen he promised to clean the previous night, and served him his plate… I asked him again when he would follow through on his promise to tackle his mess. I had already cleaned everything I had touched or any mess that was created by me, as always. He got angry, and said I’m obsessed with him cleaning. He proceeds to play video games for hours. He hand-washed a few dishes, left the rest to soak. Then he went to bed, saying he will finish it in the morning after I thanked him, believing any work to be done.
Can you guess what happened next? Bingo! Morning comes, he’s added to the mess and not subtracted. I remind him of his promise to clean. He proceeds to stonewall me, and then leaves early for work, angrily slamming the door after declaring he will “do it later.”
Turns out all I had to do to get a free live-in maid for life was be born a man!
