It saddens me that powerful women in history get vilified as seductresses source
This is exhausting.
Dallas,TX - Went to Walmart today for lube and found it behind a locked door. I had to ring for assistance (several times because...it's Walmart). While I waited I noticed that also behind glass were condoms, pregnancy tests and female contraceptives. When the tiny older lady finally arrived to open the counter I asked why the locked door? She said it was due to theft.
A lot to unpack there. I'm a 44 year old married woman who just wants some lube. But what if I was a 16 year old kid who wanted to practice safe sex but was too embarrassed to ring the bell and wait 15 minutes? Or a woman scared she might be pregnant and everything that may or may not entail? Why is Gladys from home goods the guardian of anything?
I don't have answers. Just grumpy and pissy and tired. SOP for women in Texas ( everywhere?) lately. Thought this group might be pissy with me.

y'all, Sarah Palin LOST.
And instead of her, we have a lovely indigenous woman who ran on protecting access to abortion.
I needed good news so bad.
We turned a red seat blue - even if only until January, it's a pretty big deal.

Apparently, as a woman, I cannot be the primary driver in the rental car that I reserved?!
This happened to me over the weekend at Boston Logan at the Av car rental counter.
I booked the rental car reservation nearly a month before travel. I booked my reservation in my name, with my driver’s license information, and my credit card. Upon arrival at the car rental counter, I greeted the clerk, we exchanged pleasantries, and then I gave her my drivers license, credit card, and confirmation number for the rental. It was at this time that the clerk tried to return my driver’s license and asked for my husband's drivers license as the primary driver (he is not the primary driver and the reason for that is irrelevant.) I explained to her that she had my driver’s license already and she again insisted that my husband would be the primary driver and that she needed his license. My husband and I both told her once again that I was the primary driver, the reservation and credit card are all in my name. Her attitude shifted at this point to being curt and short tempered. At one point she admonished me for taking my credit card out of the card machine when prompted to by the machine itself. The entire experience was stressful, insulting, and I am not sure why I am still shocked by it.
Edit: I’m in my 40s and should have originally included that information.
Edit 2: Around 6pm yesterday someone reported me to Reddit Cares and I can no longer see or answer replies to this post.

My husband stealthed me
I asked him to wear a condom and he got up and went to the bathroom...and he didn't. It was dark and I wasn't wearing my contacts. He made sure I didn't check before/after. I only realized the next morning when I didn't see a condom in the trash.
We've been (successfully) using condoms + natural family planning for 10 years. We have a 6 month old baby and my period just restarted, so I wanted to be extremely cautious until I enter more months of data into my fertility tracking app.
My brain knows this is sexual assault. I know I should call a therapist so I can talk about it. But it's really hard to see it that way, and to say it out loud. They say almost 1 in 3 women will experience sexual violence, but I never thought it would be me or my husband of 10+ years.
