Request for help for starting programming by a linguist
https://www.reddit.com/r/programming/comments/1iofcfs/request_for_help_for_starting_programming_by_a/

<!-- SC_OFF -->Hi there, I hope anybody could help me. Sorry for my English, I’m not a mother tongue speaker. I’m a linguist focused on Italian dialects and I’ll have my Cognitive Science PhD dissertation in March. Since I studied literature and linguistics at the university, I never had the chance to learn some programming skills. I suffered a lot during my PhD because of that, being “forced” for my project to learn RStudio and statistical thinking in a small time (and a lot of stuff is still not clear to me, but I think it’s normal). However, I would really like to learn programming by zero for my future careers and also because I found this subject really creative and fascinating to apply to linguistics. However, there is a problem: I don’t know where to start. I see a lot of free and paid courses and materials online but the more I search, the more I get confused. My question for you is the following: Does anybody can suggest me some good materials to start learning Python, NLP and machine learning by zero? Is it Python a good choice to start? Thank you a lot for the help! 💖 (As a link I will post something funny about programming because I don’t know what to link, please don’t judge me) <!-- SC_ON --> submitted by /u/Front-Interaction395 (https://www.reddit.com/user/Front-Interaction395)

How to safely connect cloud server to home GPU server
https://www.reddit.com/r/programming/comments/1iooym8/how_to_safely_connect_cloud_server_to_home_gpu/

<!-- SC_OFF -->I put together a small site (mostly for my own use) to convert content into Markdown. It needed GPU power for docling, but I wasn’t keen on paying for cloud GPUs. Instead, I used my home GPU server and a cloud VM. This post shows how I tunnel requests back to my local rig using Tailscale and Docker—skipping expensive cloud compute. All ports stay hidden, keeping the setup secure and wallet-friendly. <!-- SC_ON --> submitted by /u/zabirauf (https://www.reddit.com/user/zabirauf)
