Are there really no good options besides Galaxy and Pixel?

I can upgrade and I've had galaxy phones forever, I'll be going from an S24+ right now. I know the S26 line would be a step up, but I keep seeing people complain about the poor battery life, and the small updates. So maybe I get the 26 ultra? Even if I pay a little bit, seems like my best bet. My only other option seems to be a pixel pro which looks good too, but then I see reviews saying it's really underpowered. Is there really no other choice besides these two? I know there are things like oneplus and the nothing phone, but are they really worth exploring?

Android 16 and iPhone AirDrop

I don’t know if you guys already know this already, but here’s something I tried today.

I have a Pixel 10 Pro running Android 16 and a MacBook Pro M1 with the latest macOS (26.x.x). I took a great photo and wanted to set it as my desktop wallpaper, but I couldn’t figure out an easy way to transfer the image to my Mac.

At first, I tried Bluetooth, but then I noticed an option to send it via AirDrop. Surprisingly, it worked — my MacBook showed up in the Pixel Files app, and I was able to transfer files between my Android phone and MacBook without using any third-party app.

I was honestly really happy to discover that. And here’s how my wallpaper looks now.

What's the point of disallowing hotspot toggle on Bluetooth connection?

Why does Android restrict apps from automatically enabling the Wi-Fi hotspot?

My use case is simple: when my phone connects to my car’s Bluetooth, I want hotspot to turn on automatically.

Apps like Tasker and MacroDroid often need root, ADB, or workarounds.

If hotspots are password protected, what security risk is Android preventing? Is this about security, carrier rules, battery management, or platform design?

Why isn’t there an official permission/API for trusted automation apps to do this?
