I feel like there's no (mid to high end) Android phone on the market right now that doesn't have major issues. Is that true or is the community just a bit nit picky?

Hi!

Right, so, going through a bunch of reddit threads and videos and stuff like that I really have the feeling that all phones people talk about (that's why I excluded the budget phones) have some serious issues compared to a few years ago.

LG: gone
HTC: gone
Huawei: no Google stuff which might or might not be an issue for some but for most average consumers it is
Chinese phones: apparently Chinese spyware on the phone? Haven't looked much into it but read it in an off sentence somewh...

I changed a setting that makes the Material You UI look way better

Apologies if this is obvious, but when Android 12 came out, I very much hated the Material You UI look. Everything felt big and blocky, like it was designed for old people. The tiles in the quick notification drawer felt unnecessarily large and I even debated switching to an iPhone.

Today I went into the font size settings and turned the display size slider all the way down. Wow! What a difference. Everything looks so much cleaner and much of the excessive white space is gone.

Just wanted to p...

Phone Size Discussion

I am a "compact" phone guy. My heart beckons for a true Motorola Moto X successor.

However, these small phones don't sell so well. Is it just because people like to consume media and so bigger screens are always better?

2022 is looking desperate for upgrades from my Pixel 5. Maybe a S23 in 2023?

Anyone else in the same boat?...

I recorded a 1.5 hour 2160p 60fps video on my LG G8, here are some interesting findings

Resolution was 2160p 60fps. Duration was 1h 28m 21s, Battery went from 80% to 19% (I've had my G8 for 2.2 years, with light use so take battery degradation into account). Instead of making a giant video file, it split the video into smaller videos, and each smaller video is exactly 8 minutes 55 seconds, and about 4 GB in size. Combined, they are 39.6GB. I looked online and found an article about how long videos recorded on Android phones are split into 4GB smaller videos, and how the limitation ...
