Gboard should add "landscape mode"-friendly split keyboard

It's been brought up before but I feel like it needs more attention

Phones are getting bigger and taller which means landscape mode is getting wider and wider

Splitting the keyboard just seems like the obvious thing to do, considering the amount of media like movies and games constantly having us use the phones in landscape mode whenever we might get a text that we'd wanna reply to immediately....

Can we please combine Gesture Navigation and the Buttons?

(This is all in regards to the Pixel Launcher, as my phone is a Pixel 3. Also, I've never posted here before and I guess this could be a rant, but I intended this post to be somewhat of a feature request and/or discussion.)

*TLDR is added at the bottom.*

I was an iPhone user for pretty much my whole life until about a month ago when I bought myself a Pixel 3. Because of this, I fell in love with the Gesture Navigation that was released in Android 10 due to its similarity to...

Are Chinese smartphone companies pushing others out of the market?

First of all, this is not a xenophobic attack or anything like it so please don't take it that way.

The point that I want to make is that in the recent times we have all these generally new Chinese smartphone companies like Xiaomi, Vivo, Realme, Oppo, OnePlus, ~~Huawei~~ quickly managing to find themselves in the top 10 world wide phone manufacturers lists while some established brands like Sony and LG keep plummeting. I would also count Motorola and Nokia but they're now owned by Chinese compa...

The icon remained the same, but the opening logo (near the bottom of the screen) has changed accordingly to the title, after todays update. It now reads "Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp, Oculus".

What do you think about the influence mobile apps have on the newer generations, that will grow up unaccostumed to being bored?

So I'm working on my end-of-degree project about mobile apps, and one of the questions I pose in there is the influence these apps may have on younger and maybe not even that young of generations.

While true that mobile and apps related to it have improved our quality of life by creating a space in which we can have fun in any situation, could it also be true that this life of constant distraction from any shape of boredom may impact students life negatively once they seek out work, making the...

I Think Phone VR will/should make a comeback

The future of VR had always been mobile but now I think we are finally going to see competitive options for mobile VR. Samsung had their gear VR and Android had cardboard among other options but they never were competitive with a PC or even a standalone headset experience, but now I think that can change.

Displays:
With 90hz and 120hz displays becoming standard mobile VR is as close as ever and being competitive with Desktop VR solutions. High res mobile displays are already capable of meeting ...

A unique idea regarding lack of 3.5mm jacks in modern smartphones

I have a unique idea, and hope this invention makes it into modern smartphones.

Every phone has speaker grills. What if we put gold contact points in the grills, and make a plastic 3.5mm jack contraption that can snap right into the grill(horizontally). Now, plug any headphones into the contraption.

Yes, it can easily break off/lost like earpods, but still it's better than no jack at all, and doesn't take any internal space in the phone as well. The jack contraption that can also be sold sepa...
