A few months ago I gave a presentation at the VP level regarding the overall security landscape of the Lightning Network today. The audience already understood Bitcoin and mining, but was not well versed in Lightning. I adapted my presentation into a document and have been refining it as I have time. Hi everyone, the current mempool congestion and resultant high fees (and perceived higher probability) of Force Closures has had the unfortunate result of putting noderunning outside the acceptable risk tolerances of many noderunners. One such noderunner has been a pillar in our community, Medici (@walmer_bolfet). We approached Medici about an arrangement we'd like to share with peers of that node. For anyone who had a channel with Medici, RecklessApotheosis is offering to cover the cost of the cooperative closure of that channel, and the fees with opening a new channel of the same size or larger back to RecklessApotheosis, up-to 27s/vB for each operation. If Medici has already closed the channel, then the refund will be sent to them to help reduce the expense of winding down the node. If you would like to take us up on this offer then send a DM or reply to this message! Keep your funds routing, and escape the high fees of dealing with channel thrash!

RecklessApotheosis is going down briefly to restart LND and update packages.

Our ISP is here to resolve our networking issues. As we were advised connectivity would come and go, I disabled forwards on RecklessApotheosis, but the server is still up. Once the technician is done, I'll re-enable them.

OK, thanks to @ThunderHorseLN and @GordianKnot I realized that when the ISP technician was working on our network Friday, apparently our so-called "static" IP address changed, and I have been tor-only up-to now. I'm changing the configuration now on my LND and restarting it, forwards are disabled and I'm making changes now!
