Reagan was no warhound. He spent a boatload on the military and yes, funneled the guns to the Contras, but he launch one war that last two days and bombed Libya for a several hours. It was GHWB who took the party down the warpath, launching wars against Panama, Somalia, and the big one against Iraq. GWB would follow his daddy’s lead and drag us into two forever wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The best move for DeSantis would be to lock in a VP spot by agreeing not to run. That sets him up nicely for 2028 and, in the interim, gives Trump an insurance policy should Democrats try to indict him. Democrats view DeSantis as a major long-term political threat.
