2Nd Amendment Win: A federal judge overturned California’s 32-year Assault Weapons Ban. Judge Benitez wrote in his ruling that the firearms banned under the state’s law were “fairly ordinary, popular, modern rifles.” Judge

Benitez described the AR-15 as “a perfect combination of home defense weapon and homeland defense equipment.” He ruled the state's definition of assault weapons unlawfully deprives law-abiding Californians of a gun commonly allowed in most other states.

"Under no level of heightened scrutiny can the law survive," Benitez said. 

The judge granted a 30-day stay to allow the state’s attorney general to appeal the decision.
