The many different ways of writing a Vue component has become a historical burden that creates fragmentation among codebases and confusion for new developers. I do think at some point we will need to be more opinionated on what you should use for new projects so that future projects look more consistent - but that will largely be a documentation change. It doesn't mean we need to take away the ability to use Options API, especially in existing codebases.
