COVID-19: 7 Mar Update

As of 12pm:
New cases: 8
Total cases in Singapore: 138
Discharged today: 8
Total discharged: 90
Total remaining in Hospital: 48

Of the new cases, 4 are part of the SAFRA cluster, 1 is linked to a known cluster, 2 are likely to be imported cases, and 1 is unlinked.

Most in hospital are stable or improving. 8 are in the intensive care unit - 1 less than yesterday.

Additional measures in response to growing SAFRA cluster:
a) 14-day suspension of all activities and classes attended by the confirmed cases at the affected community clubs (CCs) and residents’ committees (RCs)
b) 14-day suspension of all PA-organised singing classes at affected CCs and RCs

🛳 Precautionary measures for Costa Fortuna
- Cruise ship Costa Fortuna, based in SG, is scheduled to return on 10 Mar
- All of its passengers had embarked earlier from Singapore, and completed pre-embarkation checks
- No passengers have fever or respiratory illness
- Doctor on board will check passengers and crew to ensure they are healthy before disembarkation
- Temp screening before entering SG, swab tests if exhibiting fever or respiratory illness
- SG cruise terminals remain open to scheduled calls
- Unscheduled calls in SG disallowed since 24 Feb

Joint Statement by MOH, MPA and STB: Precautionary Measures taken for Cruise Ship’s Scheduled Call at Singapore

Costa Fortuna began its journey from Singapore as a home-ported ship and returned as scheduled this morning. Before leaving Singapore, it has been disinfected and its passengers also completed pre-embarkation checks based on prevailing policies for travel history and temperature screening. There were no new passengers since it left Singapore on 3 Mar 2020 and no suspected COVID-19 cases.

Precautionary Measures:
1. One-on-One checks on passengers with recent travel history to northern Italy within last 14 days;
2. Temperature screening for remaining passengers with compulsory COVID-19 swab test for those who exhibit fever and/or other symptoms of respiratory illness

COVID-19: Social responsibility is critical

Many locally transmitted cases were caused by individuals attending social activities though sick
- 35 of 160 confirmed cases did not minimise social contact even with symptoms
- 22% went to work
- 24% doctor hopped; 8 visited three or more

Protecting our seniors
- All senior-centric activities by government agencies will be suspended for 14 days (till 24 Mar 2020)
- Care services for seniors will continue, with added precautions
- All who are sick should see a doctor and stay at home
