The SS-Ehrendegen
The SS Honor Sword, also SS-Degen, is a straight dress sword that was worn with an SS uniform from 1935 to 1945. First introduced in 1935, the SS sword was designed by Karl Diebitsch, Heinrich Himmler's personal advisor on art and design within the SS.
Damascus-bladed honor swords are extremely rare. They were awarded to a select few by Himmler personally, usually to high-ranking SS leaders or important businessmen or statesmen who held an honorary SS rank of at least SS-Oberführer. Since they were often given to recipients on their birthdays, they are also known as "birthday honor swords."

The SS-Ehrendolch
The SS honour dagger was considered an honour weapon of the Schutzstaffe. The awarding ceremony was conducted according to strict rules developed by Heinrich Himmler.
All members of the SS from Enlisted men through to the highest rank were authorized to carry an SS dagger upon completion of necessary requirements. Candidates were not just handed a dagger. There was a very ritualistic torchlight ceremony in front of the hallowed Nazi shine in front of the Feldhernhalle in Munich on Nov. 9 every year. This emotionally charged ritual took candidates back to their Tetonic roots in the Middle Ages. Candidates pledged their oath to Adolf Hitler and only then were they able to wear an SS dagger. The daggers inscription was meant to be a constant reminder of their oath unto death.
