According to the statement issued by the Punjab Police, the accused has been identified as Devinder Singh, a resident of Nihalgarh village in Sangrur district. He was arrested on July 14 from Uri in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district.

The Mizoram government has initiated preliminary steps to facilitate the Union Ministry of Home Affairs’ (MHA) decision to fence the 1,643-km-long Indo-Myanmar border, according to an official release.

A preliminary survey is scheduled to begin at Thingsai village in Hnahthial district. Representatives from the offices of the district collector, superintendent of police, Border Roads Organisation (BRO), and Assam Rifles are participating in the exercise.

🔴Assam: One killed, one injured in police firing during Paikan eviction

An eviction drive carried out by the Assam Police and Forest Department in the Paikan Reserve Forest under Krishnai Range in Goalpara district turned violent on Thursday.

According to officials, the confrontation escalated when a group of settlers attempted to obstruct the drive by pelting stones and attacking an excavator.
