Initial reports said the incident was a drone strike, but police sources later denied this, clarifying that the explosion was not caused by a drone but by a bomb planted in the quarters.

Assistant Commissioner Ladha, Shadman Safi, was present in the quarters at the time of the blast. Fortunately, he and all those with him were safe and no casualties were reported.
