At my job, sometimes people will come because they want to chat with someone. Which is mostly fine, I’m good at light chitchat, I think.
I think you have to try and understand, and have some empathy. These people probably don’t have someone to talk about their interests in their day-to-day lives, so the smiling shop clerk is as good as any. Just try to have some empathy, yes you are tired but it’s not so bad.
And then. Then the guys who stays the whole afternoon to read you ALL the effects of the new Magic: the Gathering cards, a game you don’t play, you don’t know how to play, you have no interest in playing, will come along.

Look I don’t mind talking about MTG I usually have a lot of fun. I usually ask about it. How are you finding the new sets? What do you think about the ones coming out? What decks, what formats do you play? Have you found anything good in you boosters? Wow that art is really pretty.
