The deception instead is using this for your own personal gain in place of doing this to make a better place for us all. The emphasis of "Do as Thou wilt" or do what you want, from the freemansons for instance implores you do what you want want because you are the god of your own universe. Instead we are parts of one true God, made in his image and can have his powers as long as we meet the criterial of being in service to others. This is what Jesus was trying to show us. The truth always lies some where in the middle of one side or the other of an argument, never where you would think.
