TERROR ATTACK FOILED: Heroic driver locks suicide bomber in taxi - saving “dozens” of lives
A quick-thinking taxi driver from Liverpool, England was labelled a hero for thwarting a suicide bomb attempt by reportedly locking his passenger in the vehicle. (Daily Mail)
David Perry had been asked by his fare to head for Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral where military veterans were attending, before redirecting to Liverpool Women’s Hospital - where the bomb went off. Perry managing to escape seconds before detonation, suffering just minor injuries.
A male passenger inside the vehicle was killed in the blast and declared dead at the scene, Merseyside police confirmed. Police are working to establish his identity. Three men have been arrested and detained under the Terrorism Act with local forces confirming the blast was a "terrorist incident" involving an improvised bomb. (AP)
