Indictments October Update.

5th October 2021, 10:50 Sydney time Australia.

This one came out around the normal time. It actually came out on the 4th but I am just getting around to writing the update now. The first time in 5 months it has been on time.

This is still being updated so the good guys are still in control.

No increase or decrease in Unsealed Indictments. This is the second month without opening any sealed Indictments. This is not uncommon and I have seen it many times before. It will either last one or two months then there will be a big amount unsealed. I can’t predict what is going to happen just letting you know what has happened in the past. To date we have never gone 3 months without unsealing any.

An increase of 5,530 for indictments this is low for recent months but still a good number.

Open Indictments increased by 12,974 this seems a large amount but I have not been tracking this metric for very long so I cannot accurately comment.

Remember each indictment can be for 1 or 100 people.

Facebook lobbies for internet regulation…

Facebook has begun an aggressive ad campaign imploring people to support increased government regulation of online platforms.

The attached trailer has been shown to Hulu customers, and directs viewers to a page where the platform argues that governments should force all sites to adopt the same moderation policies that Facebook employs, such as removing “misinformation."

Additionally, Facebook also highlights “combating foreign election interference” as a priority, though the platform has been infamously strict at removing any content that questions the results of the 2020 Presidential Election.

The Facebook manifesto also argues for Section 230 updates, which could see competing platforms lose their legal immunity should they fail to moderate their content to Facebook’s standards.

If Facebook is now lobbying for their Terms of Service to become law, will there be anywhere left online for those who value free speech?
