On this day, 7 May 2009, Navy Chief Special Warfare Operator (SEAL) Eric F. Shellenberger, 36, of Milford Township, Pa., assigned to Seal Delivery Vehicle Team One, Pearl City, Hawaii, was killed in a diving related training accident. We must never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Fair Winds and Following Seas Shipmate.

On this day, 8 May 2010, Army Capt. Kyle A. Comfort, 27, of Jacksonville, Ala.; assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, Ga.; died from wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit using an improvised explosive device while engaged in combat operations, near Gad, Afghanistan. We must never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

A comment about the text

Discipline is not only essential for us, but also for those who are influenced by our actions. So often, we undervalue the impact of our personal decisions on others. But God has placed each of us in a circle of influence to be a blessing and a redemptive influence on those around us. To choose what is foolish and to ignore godly correction not only jeopardizes our future, but also the future of others we influence and long to point toward Jesus.
