The Imagery team curates and maintains Mapbox’s raster tilesets. To do so, we build and deploy image processing pipelines, data catalogs, and supporting tooling. As a team, we come from different backgrounds, but we share an enthusiasm for working together to make ever more accurate, beautiful, and efficient maps. Along with large commercial customers, we’re proud to enable smaller developers and work on a number of community-driven and open-source projects. The CMCC is taking into consideration the possibility to hire a talented, motivated and proactive Scientific Software Developer.
The location is CMCC Headquarters in Lecce, Italy. Remote working is considered as an option.
The main responsibility for this position is the design and development of Python-based scientific tools and applications for climate data management and analysis. Other duties will be related to the deployment using container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and the engagement and contribution to open source software communities.
Belonging to legally protected categories (ex L. 68/99) will constitute a preferential condition.
The initial appointment is for n° 12 months starting from May 2021 at an annual salary ranging from 22K to 34K Euros, comprehensive of benefits, depending on qualification and experience.

PhD in Machine Learning for Biomedical Applications
Job Description
This PhD project has a cross cutting disciplinary nature it aims to develop and apply a deep learning algorithm to assist in predicting the clinical outcomes for treated stroke cases. Radomized control trials (RCT) can be limited when assessing the next generation of medical devices due to the length of time and associated costs. The introduction of machine learning can improve the surveillance of medical devices and lead to profound changes in the practice of running clinical trials. Medically acquired data is inherently unbalanced and require deep learning networks to address this. Therefore, there is a need for virtual studies using more advanced computational algorithms. 200 acute stroke treated cases from various medical centres in Europe will be made available through international collaboration. This data consists of a simple CT scan with a resolution 512 x 512 x 40 data points (>10 Mln) and size of 1-4 GB per case. This data will be mapped to new representations and used to make predictions using deep learning algorithms. Deep learning algorithms have been effectively applied in many fields and have outperformed many machine learning methods. They are particularly suitable to counteract class imbalance problem through augmentation and non-linear data representation. All code will be developed using Python deep learning frameworks and libraries.
