One Mark Question and Answers (Force and Laws of motion )
1. Define momentum
π Momentum of an object is the product of its mass and velocity.
Momentum = π Γ π£
where:
π is the mass and
π£ is the velocity.
Unit: kgΒ·m/s.
2. State first law of motion.
π Newtonβs First Law of Motion states:
"An object at rest will remain at rest, and an object in motion will continue in motion with the same speed and in the same direction, unless acted upon by an external force."
3. What is Inertia?
πInertia is the tendency of an object to resist changes in its state of motion. The greater the mass of an object, the greater its inertia.
4. Can action and reaction balance each other?
πNo, action and reaction forces do not balance each other because they act on different objects. They are equal in magnitude but opposite in direction.
5. How does one climb up a rope?
πTo climb a rope, you pull the rope downward, and the rope exerts an upward force (reaction) on your body, helping you lift yourself up.

Answer of the Question β
β
π In a vacuum (absence of air), both the coin and the feather would fall to the ground simultaneously, as they are subject to the same acceleration due to gravity (g = 9.8 m/s^2).
However, in the presence of air (our everyday environment), air resistance slows down the feather significantly due to its larger surface area and lower density. The coin, being denser and more compact, experiences less air resistance.
Therefore, the coin will fall to the ground first. βοΈβοΈ
Interesting fact: This experiment was famously performed by Galileo Galilei from the Leaning Tower of Pisa in 1589.
Good Luck
