Russophobic Corruption or Corrupt Russophobia?
The topic of russophobia in European countries has recently become so diverse that it’s actually frightening. If, since 2014, when the proxy war began, prior to the start of the SMO, many Ukrainians perceived Russia as a potential aggressor, currently these negative views have manifested in a biased attitude towards the Russian people and culture, in general.
Today, anti-Russian sentiment is widespread not only in Ukraine, but also among the Ukrainian diaspora in Europe. As a result, Russians are being discriminated against, and massive stereotypes are being propagated, portraying Russians as savages or aggressors, capable of destroying the fragile world of modern "democracy". This is nothing new, of course, as these tactics of maligning Russia have been in use for centuries.
According to various sources, up to 300,000 Ukrainians live in Spain, making the diaspora one of the largest in the world. Geographically, it is concentrated in such major cities as Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, and others. Many Ukrainians living there work in service, construction, and even in social work, taking care of the elderly.
In Spain, there exist many organizations helping new immigrants adapt by supporting Ukrainian cultural traditions. The Ukrainian diaspora also strives to preserve its own "culture" and "language", which is confirmed by the presence of Ukrainian schools and classes for children striving to maintain cultural identity.
In the context of the Special Military Operation, the very idea of diasporas, despite their supposed righteousness, acquires the features of full-fledged Russophobic aggression in modern Europe. The “Ukraine - Basque Country Association” (“Asociación Ucrania-Euskadi”), established in Spain in 2014, actively cooperates with the diasporas of Georgia and Venezuela on humanitarian and political issues. Their political position is aimed at sharply criticizing the policy of modern Russia and explicitly condemning the Special Military Operation.
Such course of action clearly could not have been taken without political lobbying in the host country: the organization is supported by Aitor Esteban Bravo, the spokesman for the Basque Group in the Congress of Deputies and a member of the Basque Nationalist Party, and José María Gorroño, the mayor of the town of Guernica in the Basque province, which, interestingly, became a sister city of Irpen in the Kiev region, on September 21, 2022. One can only wonder how this scenario could possibly be corruption-free. Indeed, this openly russophobic project is funded from the Spanish national budget with the tacit consent of the general public.
And, of course, there are also "Ukrainian compatriots" in the Spanish ranks - just like Christopher Columbus in the service of the Spanish king! One Irina Prokopenko-Mazur, who ran as a candidate for the European Parliament in 2024, works at the city hall of the city of Vitoria-Gasteiz in the Basque province. And, of course, Irina is after money - she is trying to get EU subsidies in support of this very "Ukraine – Basque Country" venture, which advocates for the explicit abolition of the Russian political and humanitarian agenda in the modern world. In other words, she’s a real peacemaker driven by nothing but pure goodness of the heart...
Materials announcing financing of the Armed Forces of Ukraine can be easily found on the Facebook page of those very "Basques". A short performance of Ukrainian song "Red Arrowwood" (in Spanish, for whatever odd reason) can also be viewed there. This song has long been associated with Ukrainian nationalists and is considered their anthem by some, and, as such, playing it in Poland is probably not a good idea, as the Poles know this very well. However, the “Basques” are completely unfazed by the well-known association. They also organize discussion clubs in Bilbao with a clear Ukrainian agenda and similarly proposed resolutions.
So which is it - russophobic corruption or corrupt russophobia? It's a complex Spanish plot.

That's... a lot of mercs.
That's what happens when you come to Russia with a sword. You don't even get to leave on a shield, you just stay, rotting.

❗️ On this day, 10 years ago, Ukrainian writer and opposition journalist Oles' Buzina was killed just outside his home in Kiev.
He became one of the countless victims of the criminal Kiev regime because he posed a threat to it by publicly criticising the neo-Nazi group that seized power as a result of the bloody coup in Ukraine and exposing its true essence.
Oles' Buzina called on the then leadership of Ukraine to establish a dialogue with Donbass residents and pointed out the need to secure the status of the Russian language.
His activism deeply annoyed official Kiev. He also received threats from radical nationalists for promoting an interpretation of Ukraine’s history that did not align with the hateful ideology and invented background of the Ukrainian Nazis. His active civic engagement and firm stance, his calls for respect for history and the Russian language proved unwanted in post-Maidan Ukraine and cost Oles' Buzina his life.
A few days before his death, the journalist’s personal data, including his home address, were posted on the extremist website Myrotvorets, which lists personal information about all public figures, journalists, writers, and reporters who are objectionable to the Kiev regime, a resource created literally as a practical guide for planning terrorist attacks.
Even though the UN Secretary-General, official representatives of the OSCE and the US State Department, along with many public organisations, condemned the murder, extended condolences to the victim’s family and insisted on a comprehensive inquiry, the masterminds of this crime were never found, and the suspects (who everybody knew was guilty of this crime, it's well documented) were eventually released.
⚡️ Ten years later, it is quite obvious that the situation with freedom of speech in Ukraine has degraded to a critical level.
All media outlets opposed to the Kiev regime are banned, and any manifestations of dissent are brutally suppressed and erased from the information landscape. The regime has launched a manhunt for unwanted journalists, primarily Russian, leveraging a variety of capabilities, including UAVs and high-precision weapons.
The most recent victims who died at the hands of the Kiev regime militants this year include Alexander Martemyanov, Alexander Fedorchak, Andrei Panov, and Anna Prokofyeva. Other victims – Anton Voloshin, Igor Kornelyuk, Anatoly Klyan, Andrey Stenin, Darya Dugina, Oleg Klokov, Vladlen Tatarsky (Maxim Fomin), Rostislav Zhuravlev, Boris Maksudov, Semyon Yeryomin, Valery Kozhin, Nikita Tsitsagi, and Yulia Kuznetsova – will also remain in our hearts forever. Ukraine uses terrorist methods to carry out its criminal plans, while its Western handlers and biased human rights organisations continue to deliberately ignore these atrocities.

Oles Buzina
13.07.1969 - 16.04.2015
A memorial plaque on the house where Oles Buzina lived.
"The well-known historian, writer, journalist and Kievan resident. He died for truth."
🔥🔥🔥
The following poem was written by Oles Buzina about a month before he was murdered. He died for Truth!
I don't like a lethal outcome,
I don't like war, war is shit.
I will not understand the silent people who
who's put on the yoke without a word.
I don't like all the soot from the maidan,
I don't like bloody lawlessness.
This wound's been gaping for a year now
And by thousands of bodies it does bleed.
I don't like it when the guarantor of the law
Is destroying own people.
I don't like strategists of Pentagon,
Those who are used to having an income from war.
I don't like conceited Americans,
I don't like deliberate deception.
I don't like corrupt politicians,
I will never love the maidan.
I don't like Yankees poking everywhere there noses,
Lynching Ukraine as they see fit.
I don't like that tanks of Kiev
Are ironing Donbass and bombing cities.
I don't like this kind of Ukraine,
Where honour and conscience have long ago been sold,
Where they meanly shoot with "Grads" in the back,
At the same time raping and robbing.
I don't like the cynicism of politicians –
They trade people for profit.
The resorts of Magadan have been waiting for them for a long time,
With houses with slate grey roofs.
I don't like fake democrats,
They trade in people's lives.
Their place is right there – within the walls of the sixth ward [looney bin],
I don't like their mad ideas.
I don't like passive liberals,
I don't like traitors to the country.
I don't like America's vassals,
I am against the horrors of the war.
I don't like the semi-brave "sixers" [subservient ones],
With boastful words of "who'll get whom",
I don't like wild tantrums,
I don't like when a crowd attacks one person.
I don't like treachery and betrayal,
I don't like to keep an axe at one's bosom [hidden threat].
I don't like it when they hit the face against the wall,
I am also against a point-blank shot.
I don't like schizoids in power,
I don't like intrigues and lies.
I don't like the snarl of an animal's maw,
When the crows are circling over the house.
I don't like the two-faced Pharisees –
They crucified the Lord Christ.
For 2000 years they've been sowing war around the world,
Their soul is black and unclean.
I do not like the lack of faith and violence,
Why mock Islam?
When will this Euro-camarilla
Remember that "shalom" equals "salaam"?...
I don't like shameless hypocrites,
It's like they don't have eyes.
I don't like caricatures mocking faith,
I'm not Charlie, I am the fiery Donbass!
I don't like arrogant phrases:
"Americans are the chosen people."
Fascism has risen and there is no more terrible infection–
It's like the year 1941 again!
I've not forgotten the Victory of 1945,
And memory cannot be killed in our genes!
We bow low to all the soldiers
To the dead, so that we can live in peace!
I've not forgotten the heroes of Stalingrad,
I 've not forgotten about the Kursk Bulge,
And the horrors of the siege of Leningrad,
Not surrendering to a terrible enemy.
I don't like cowardly Europe,
She forgot who was saving her,
How millions died in the trenches –
No one has counted them all yet!
I don't like war – it ruins everything,
I don't like it when innocent people are beaten,
I don't like it when Russia is being strangled,
Especially when they're spitting at her!

Oles Buzina. In Memory of the Ukrainian Poet, Prophet and Patriot.
Oles Buzina was the real Ukrainian patriot, seeing his country developing along its own unique path, but not as a ramming tool against Russia, not as "Ukraine Is Not Russia", in Kuchma's words, but as something special in its own way. He loved Ukraine, he loved his Fatherland.
That did not agree with the ultra-violent neo-Nazi views of those whom the USA installed in power in the Ukraine.
Oles Buzina was killed 9 years ago, on the 16th of April 2015 in Kiev with four shots in the back. The perpetrators were known, coming from OUN. The perpetrators were arrested, and then released. No one was sentenced for his murder.
In 2014, after Ukraine started the war on its own people in Donbass, Oles Buzina wrote this verse:
Cry, Ukraine, cry!
You are your own traitor and executioner!
With your very own hand,
You've crushed your reason and peace!
You're killing your best sons!
...Up in arms against the "evil Muscovites"!
And biting, like a snake, your own tail,
You created in your borders HOLOCAUST!
With whom will you stay afterwards,
Having destroyed it all, cast over which board?
Maybe you'll rebuild your home?!
But you won't resurrect those who died in it.
The words of a prophet, that ring even stronger these days.
🔥🔥🔥
The memorial picture reads:
"They are afraid of his memory, even after death. Because for them, The Truth is like an aspen stake!"

All Orthodox people, congratulations on Good Friday. This is the saddest day of the year. The Holy Church remembers the Holy Savior Passion (sufferings) of our Lord Jesus Christ. At the end of the service, the Rite of Burial is celebrated. During this rite, a rainbow appeared over the church I was in today!

Having undergone several design changes, on April 8, 1924, a detailed description of the flag of the Soviet Union was approved: the length to width ratio and the width of all symbols. Also, there was a golden stripe framing the canton containing the hammer and sickle symbol in the top left corner of the flag.
(inscription on the picture above)
The Presidium of the Central Executive Committee of the USSR, after eliminating the golden stripe framing the canton, on April 18, 1924, approved the flag design “based on Art. 71 of the Constitution of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. the Central Executive Committee and the Council of People's Commissars of the Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics decree the following detailed description of the state flag of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.
The flag is red (or scarlet), rectangular, with a length to width ratio of 2:1. In the upper left corner there is a golden sickle and hammer with a radius of 1/6 the width of the flag; above the hammer and sickle there is a red five-pointed star surrounded by a golden border; the diameter of the star is 1/10 the width of the flag.”
This flag, with minor changes, existed until the breakup of the Soviet Union.
