My name is Purrma and I have gotten into photography around 2000. Still knowing analogue film, I have been doing digital photography for years without a deeper motivation.
Around 2025 I delved much deeper into the topic, doing mostly fursuit photography and animal photography in zoos.

While I have been running around with my old Canon EOS 1000D the year I haven't had a fursuit yet, this was probably one of the better shots. Little did I know about properly using the camera and setting scenes. This is from December 2023, featuring @Lylox.

By now I have not just upgraded my gear to a Canon EOS 90D with Tamron SP 45mm f1.8, but also spent a lot of time getting known to it, and plenty of YouTube videos and tutorials for theoretical knowledge and practical hints. These photos are just a few days old and show the progress exemplary.

In December last year I got myself one of those big "wild life" lenses for my camera. It’s mostly useless when wanting to shoot any kind of portraits. But it gave me an excuse to leave my room every now and then to visit different zoos. Yes yes, I know: Why not sit in a field and wait 5 hours for a real wild animal to cross by? It’s not my kind of thing. So zoos it is.

Also, I finally found out how to enable commenting posts here.

@Lylox’s suit has been one of the first I wanted to see, and actually got to see just at my very first suitwalk back in 2023. And still, whenever there’s a chance to put this pretty lynx in scene, I take it. Although both of us aren’t the most creative people to properly do so.

One of the most challenging moments of getting the just right photos was at Spring Fur Con’s dance competition. Asides capturing just the perfect moment, there are also better cameras than mine for these low-light situations with fast movement. However, at least some photos have turned out good enough to be able to present them.

In January I was in Germendorf. They have one of the few pumas in entire Germany. And they actually have cubs, too. While they remained kind of hidden inside their shed, the parents both were quite active outside.
The day was full of fresh snow and some hours going at slowest speed on the Autobahn. But in the end it was worth the trip.

Is it a seahorse? A dragon? A submarine?
One of the most fun lenses I have is an 8mm fisheye lens. It causes this very distorted look when used for portraits. While it is actually quite useful for pictures to give an "whole impression" of e.g. a location, it otherwise is quite a special lens I don't take with me usually.
In this case we see a black dragon, @RaidenRairyuu.

Group photos like these are sometimes a real problem. The bright light of the background. The shadow on the actual motive (the suiters). And them not standing on a perfect line (focus/sharpness of their faces).
It's always a surprise package to see if this can be somehow turned into something useful in editing.
Is a phone camera better here? They seem to make better photos. But then again, they're already heavily automatically edited and usually don't offer the resolution to properly see details on the individuals if one wants to actually zoom in for that.

Going very early into the zoo pays off. Most animals, especially the cats, don’t hide from the sun or possibly annoying people at that point. Just after 10:00 they already begun going into hiding.
