On October 4th , 1897, Sister TheÌreÌse was buried in the first grave of the newly enclosed plot in the municipal cemetery of Lisieux.
â
After the death of TheÌreÌse , Mother AgneÌs hesitates between two sentences, to put something on the cross overlooking the grave.
I want to spend my heaven doing good on earth! that Therese had so often spoken of in her last months tempted her but even more so an excerpt from poem âRememberâ:
â
That I want, O my God,
To carry your Fire far and wide,
Remember.
â
She opts for the poetry, but a worker who left his sleeve drag on the still fresh paint, made the text unreadable. Mother AgneÌs seeing a sign in it, wrote the first idea in its place.

Some traditional catholics attempted to take refuge in eastern liturgies. However you have to be careful, especially with the "maronite"

After the Christians expelled the Turks from the gates of Vienna, numerous treasures were discovered left by the enemy, including hundreds of bags filled with coffee beans. At first, the brew was disliked because of its overpowering bitter taste. But Blessed dâAviano perfected the rough beverage by adding milk as a sweetener. This new drink spread like wildfire throughout Europe. In the monkâs honor, the drink was named âkapuziner,â or âCapuchin,â because it was the name of the religious order to which Blessed Marco belonged, along with the fact that the drink matches the color of the traditional habit worn by the order. https://tfpstudentaction.org/blog/cappuccino-coffee-was-invented-by-a-saintly-warrior-monk

Remember this story when you drink cappuccino.
"If you see a bad priest at the head of a parish, you should be afflicted and fear that perhaps our sins deserved such a horrible chastisement, for Sacred Scripture teaches us that the greatest and most terrible scourge that God sends to a people is to give it bad priests.
Until the wrath of the Lord reaches its apex, He permits that nations arm themselves one against the other; that the fields become sterile; that hunger, desolation and death exert their dominium over the earth.
However, when His just indignation reaches its climax, He sends the last and most atrocious of His punishments by allowing unfaithful ministers, stained priests, scandalous shepherds to appear among men. Then it happens that the abominations of the people are the cause of the bad priests, and the bad priests are the greatest punishment with which God chastises the people.â - St. Anthony Maria Claret

'If some shameful thought is sown in your heart as you are sitting in your cell, watch out. Resist the evil, so that it does not gain control over you. Make every effort to call God to mind, for He is looking at you, and whatever you are thinking in your heart is plainly visible to Him. Say to your soul: "If you are afraid of sinners like yourself seeing your sins, how much more should you be afraid of God who notes everything?" As a result of this warning the fear of God will be revealed in your soul, and if you cleave to Him you will not be shaken by the passions; for it is written: "They that trust in the Lord shall be as Mount Zion; he that dwells in Jerusalem shall never be shaken" (Ps. 125:1. LXX). Whatever you are doing, remember that God sees all your thoughts, and then you will never sin. To Him be glory through all the ages. Amen.'

âFor prayer is nothing else than being on terms of friendship with God.â
â St. Teresa of Ăvila
Ask yourself, do you have a friendship with God? If youâre reading this, youâll probably say yes.
However, consider that friendship lies in loving another for the sake of the other. Do you love God for the sake of loving him? Or do you only love him when struck by emotion? If we only pray when we feel like it, if we only pray when we need something or âfeelâ God in our heartsâ we do not have a friendship with God. Instead, we have in a way objectified God in this modern age. We use him for our own joy, our own fulfillment.
I myself would argue, that I donât have a friendship with God. I pray only when I want, and thatâs not friendship. God wants us alwaysâ we need to learn to want him always.
On this feast day of St. Teresa of Ăvila, we pray for the grace to pray for the sake of God. To truly enter in to friendship with God.
