I am of a different mind ten times in the course of a day. But I resist the devil, and often it is with a fart that I chase him away. When he tempts me with silly sins I say, 'Devil, yesterday I broke wind too. Have you written it down on your list? - Martin GigaChad Luther

Russia and Ukraine are corrupt, semi-authoritarian nations whose national churches condemn us because we don't pray to pictures on the wall.
We have no theological dog in this hunt, other than we pray this ends quickly and the suffering of fellow protestants is minimal.

The same people that wanted everything shut down two years ago, that are calling for total war with Russia today, will be crying really hard about the tens of millions of kids that are gonna starve next winter.

At the baptist church I go to, there's an interesting little tradition which perfectly illustrates the destructive parasitism of pietism. After each baptism, the pastor will lead the congregation in singing the Doxology. But we never sing it as a part of ordinary Lord's Day worship; we just stick to a consistent repertoire of about two dozen contemporary songs and emotion-laden 19th century American hymns (some of which were authored by women). The congregants all learned the Doxology from some more traditional church or their family. This pietistic pastor does none of the work of maintaining these traditions and godly practices and yet reaps a benefit of the labor of others. This principle applies to numerous other situations: They don't catechize; they appropriate the work of the hard-nosed Presbyterians. They don't encourage hard work, financial prudence, and career success, but yet they are happy to take the offerings, the fruit of these habits. They minimize the importance of cultural and political influence, yet reap the benefits of freedom their ancestors gained for them. Pietism is nothing more than feminized and Americanized Christianity. It is overly emotional and fat and lazy. It doesn't want to do any of the unpleasant or challenging tasks required to break the gates of Hades and take dominion over the world. It would rather sign a peace treaty and go back to its cocoon of comfort and feely-good feelings. Pietism is as gay and cringe as EOs and RCs. Protbros, it's time to eliminate these fags from our ranks. I'm talking relentless trolling and ceaseless hazing. Let's go.

โAll culture arises out of religion. When religious faith decays, culture must decline, though often seeming to flourish for a space after the religion which has nourished it has sunk into disbelief. But neither can religion subsist if severed from a healthy culture; no cultured person should remain indifferent to erosion of apprehension of the transcendent.โ

โEverything that is called duty, the prerequisite for all genuine law and the substance of every noble custom, can be traced back to honor. The farmer had his honor, as does every craftsman; the merchant and the officer; the official; and the old princely families all have their honor. He who has none, who โsets no storeโ in standing respectably before himself as well as his peers, is โcommonโ; he is the opposite of noble in the view of every genuine society.โ

โA flourishing society is a fabric of historical loyalties and expectations, shaped by the free dealings of people over many generations. If you describe it as a contract, then it is not a contract between the living, but between the living, the unborn and the dead.โ

What comes to mind when you think of Christ's command to take dominion over the world? On the rare occasion modern Christians think of taking dominion, they limit it exclusively to evangelism and missions. And these are certainly powerful weapons of dominion, but they are not the only ones. https://protestantpost.substack.com/p/building-a-parallel-economy?s=w
