Vasily Starikov
The best book I've ever read in my life!

The first mention of Castaneda for me was in a song by Egor Letov. There was a line "Castaneda didn't write anything about it." I noticed a very unusual name at the time. What kind of a name is that, I thought then and decided that it was probably some kind of philosopher. Letov often mentioned various names of philosophers, politicians and other world figures in his songs.

Another time, I remember talking to one of my friends. He asked me: "Have you read Castaneda?". I answered him.: "No, I haven't read it." He said, "And you'd better not read it. Because those who read it become religious fanatics." I was a little surprised by this turn of the question and thought it was rather strange. And how strong does a book have to be to become a religious fanatic?

When Christianity is very widespread in our country in the form of Orthodoxy, and therefore, for the most part, people do not absorb this information of their own volition. It is imposed and imposed by society. That was understandable. People are interested in this simply because it exists massively in our culture, but some unknown Castaneda?! And it wasn't clear what he was referring to at all. Besides, it was impossible to determine who he was by nationality by his name.

The third moment was when the guys and I went to the clearing for hallucinogenic mushrooms on the train. It was a big field far from my house, and there was a guy riding with us whom I didn't know at all, but he was a friend of an acquaintance of mine. We went out to the vestibule for a smoke, and I asked if he knew anything about Castaneda. And he replied that Castaneda described in his books how he lived with the Indians and ate hallucinogenic mushrooms. I realized that this was related to the topic I was interested in, and then I decided that I needed to read what was going on with Castaneda. A little later, I took the subway from work and went into a bookstore and looked at what was there. I came across a book by Carlos Castaneda called A Separate Reality. I realized that this was the writer I had heard about, and I was interested and looked at the book. Without hesitation, I decided to buy it and then started reading it.

I wonder what my reaction to Castaneda would be if I came across any book except the first two? The main theme of the book was that Castaneda described in detail and in great detail his states of using power plants, that is, his descriptions were so penetrating, detailed and clear that one could really understand and intuitively feel what was happening at one moment or another. This is a very big plus for Castaneda as a writer and informant in the field of esotericism, psychedelia, and even science. The super master of psychedelia, the luminary of altered states of consciousness, the outstanding scientist Carlos Castaneda has done tremendous work in these areas of the world and was able to perfectly transfer his experience to the canvas of a small book.

There have been a lot of basic parallels between hallucinations and reality, between supernatural forces and consciousness, between incredible events and rationalism. I became interested in Castaneda's books and realized that he was much deeper than all the writers and books I had read in the field of psychedelia. At that moment, I suddenly saw the truth in this book and realized that I had really found something serious, something that I was just missing. I felt a coincidence in spirit, in interest, in thinking. Castaneda turned my worldview 180 degrees from complete atheism with its brain hallucinations to the belief that perhaps there is something supernatural beyond our world, something that exists regardless of whether we see it or not.

The book "Separate Reality" for me was the best book I have ever read in my life! Accordingly, I went and bought all the books by Carlos Castaneda in the Sofia collection and then read them all within a year.

Now, before moving to the high resolution model of the house, let's put our draft model in the scene to check the overall progress.

Of course there will be plenty of details later with foliage, stones, debris and so on. But I hope you can already feel how the scene gradually comes alive.

All right, now when we have a draft model of the house we can work on the finished high resolution model.

As I said before, I'm going to make a typical Yaqui house, using old photo references. First, I start with walls, since they will be covered with bamboo, I don't add a lot of details there. But still you can see the structure of wattle and daub.

I put a supporting framework which consists of "Y"-shaped vertical supports set in the ground, also I added some old horizontal logs which will clamp the bamboo layer later.

Now when we have one wall we make the rest with the same technique, adding more horizontal logs to clamp the bamboo later.

Also I placed purlins of varying sizes, lengths and crookedness at right angles to the bottom layer. On the top you can see the water-repellant dirt placed over the roof area. Later we'll add a bamboo layer on it.

Next step.

Now we'll add a bamboo layer to our walls. I started with making several sets of bamboo which then will be duplicated and placed randomly on the wall. As always I try to use references of the real yaqui houses as much as possible.
