This post is the post for giveaway, just in case. Comments should be left here. But this is in case you want to ofc What is the giveaway about? 1 hour session of any kind with me: Leetcode/System design mock interview, typical outsource company interview…
I have to remind you, that you SHOULD BE subscribed to both our channels, and leave comments to BOTH of the posts

@adevblogi
@programming_space

Otherwise, if random picks you, and you are not subbed -> we run it again and chose other person.

What is the giveaway about?

1 hour session of any kind with me: Leetcode/System design mock interview, typical outsource company interview, just talk about life, play Starcraft/Warcraft, whatever.

It is 50 eur according to current pricing, but will be for free if you win.

Tbh, a bit bullshit question, it is not very hard, but building intuition is a bit annoying the night before the Monday.
However it is good thing to remember bitwise operations a bit

You know this meme, when vibecoder tells someone: "I have created an app check it here localhost:8000/home"?

Let grandad Andrii tell you how we did it in the past 😂. Back in 2018 I was on bootcamp and we (backend) need to expose endpoints for frontend to test/write logic (we didn't have deployment). We could try to do it on LAN if we are on the same wifi, but what if it is late night and we are on the other sides of city: no LAN and no localhost works.

The answer is ngrok. You download a client and run it. It allows you to expose port on localhost and tell that info to ngrok server (publicly available) https://<uniqueid>.ngrok-free.dev.

Then you can access that url and it will forward request to your localhost.

Have you ever wondered: HOW IT WORKS? how it can dial the localhost in some magical way (ofc answer in the following post)???

Maybe you have missed this news, but Google eventually rolled out feature to change your email to something new/mature for people like me who created email when they are 8 years old🤡

So Google used so called backward compatible dual write / dual read approach:
you'll get emails sent to BOTH of old/new emails.

I tried it, but it does not work really well.
Mostly I don't like that by default for google auth it uses my new email, and most services don't know it, so they consider me as "new account". Same with autofill of the email.

In the end - I changed it back to b.andriy.b2000@gmail.com. It will stay with me till the end of my days probably😂

The idea that ngrok and similar services are using is the following:

Since nothing can reach 127.0.0.1 on your computer, routers wouldn't even route that, and ngrok server with assigned IP still will not be able to do so -> let's reverse it.

Let's create TCP connection from the local machine to the ngrok server and just not close it. Ngrok server receives incoming socket connection which can be used to send data BACK to local machine. But ofc, your app shouldn't know the details of how to open such connection -> therefore there is ngrok agent that does that (the one you run and configure on your pc)

Remember, ngrok server has ip and domain name -> so it is reachable. Now your frontend friend can send req to ngrok server with id of your app. Ngrok server looks up app id and resolves the connection of the agent which is used to forward frontend friend request. Agent, as it is locally set up on your machine, forwards it to your localhost.

Bullshit, "do and forget" greedy problem. Not hard tbh, but no pattern is here as well.

Story of how agent failed

We have our own automation tool, sort of airflow. I needed to change some stuff in the cloud. We have crazy complicated way of doing that, looks more like what I have on the picture.

I was prompting (grok 4.7, cursor) , asking to check our docs, slack, etc and give me a way how to do a change, test/validate it, and be sure it will work.

It gave me good looking but not working plan all the time, no proper test plan, missed release cycles etc.

I talked to my colleague who had hands on exp with that - in 5 mins I got the plan how to do it which is SOOO different from what AI gave me.
